I've looked in section F1 to get the MOC list, no dice.
I've roamed all of the road sections to find the various convoys. Hard battles, no decoder.
Killed the general. Opted to let Ernest Bacardi live (after ensuring he didn't have a decoder...)

Basically, I'm ready to go after Brenda, but can't until I get the decoder and/or MOC list.

Any advice? Suggestions?

there sure is an exec with decoder in H14. better take some explosives to remove jammed doors.

There was this crepaton plant on H14 indeed.There I happened to meet Roger Waterhouse and after I killed him he had the decoder.Once he was along with the greek guy and he had a decoder too, so I guess every executive has this item...

I beat H14 a long time ago, and no decoder. Went back just to check, and no 'named' NPCs around, nor a decoder.

Wonder if I did something weird early on which is now causing a problem.

Negative.Just conquer another Crepaton plant and check there.These bounty hunted officials hang around them, if they're not on one of the spots they should be on another.Keep the plants under watch everyday and someone will eventually appear.

Hmm... I think I already conquered all of them.
Mostly, I'm just walking around everywhere to try and find someone.

Perhaps unrelated, find a 'you spot someone in sector G13' and when I stop, I don't see anything.

Since I'm clearly missing something, is there any cheat mechanism to just give myself the decoder?
Right now I'm at like day 130 Smile

Go to what was "West Balime" in Vanilla JA2. There's a big bar/casino/boxing ring thing there in UC. Whack the guy in charge and he drops decoder every time.

Went to the Casino in Rudesa and capped the bartender dude. He had the decoder. Wasn't sure I was supposed to whack him first time around, so this solved it. Thanks for all the help.

You're welcome. Out in the sticks another guy who drops one is the bad guy who looks like Miguel but with dark glasses and a suit. Can't recall the sector exactly but it's southerly and roughly central.

So one would assume. Despite playing through UC many times I've only ever met the guy at the rudesa bar; the miguel clone and that claudia (who had wrong prof.dat faction setting iirc). Never met any of the others at all!

Hm, I've gathered 4 heads so far.And met 2 of those officials on the road, in sectors outside of town.I just cornered the army to one sector and have people boosting militia to resist any attack so I tried checking every sector on the map...

Can't find Carmen though, the guy's like a ghost and all the heads are useless without him...

the decoder ... yeah i have it, several others lying around in some cities ... prob is, what else i need? i have dark memories of a floppy disc ... that true?
i just started a new campaign to find out carmen gives you a -Laptop- in A9 starting sector ... im afraid i ditched that one long ago.... i freed all cities including adrian.... so im not gonna restart at all after this long break ...

is the laptop necessary? and what about that floppy disc? where did i get it/ do get it? i guess i discarded it as well :/

agent x only tells me to get the -decoded- intel ... great ... and i cant get into brendas cellar in P6 ...

what now, am i stuck ?
or, how can i re-duclicate that laptop thingy? coz i havent found any useful history entries as well, only that yanni and kingpin are also interested in that MOC list ....

can sby help me out here?

Ditched it as in threw away or as in left lying on the ground? Laptop + Decoder + Disk = MOC List I think. You give MOC list to Agent (Yanni just looks at it says something about hacking; gives it back; Kingpin should be dead by this stage of game really) Agent gives you Key to P6-B1. Job done; simple. So let me get this straight; here you were playing a new to you mod; somebody gives you a high quality item that is obviously quest related and you threw it away? Hehe you live & learn. Ask Shanga or some other original UC Team member about if it is possible to regenerate a laptop or if a second one is in a box somewhere perhaps?

addition: Maybe even find Carmen & kill him; perhaps he has a spare?

Hi new to UC - just started new game.

Am a bit confused - i just want to make sure i am not charging off into the game without missing anything.

I have the machete and laptop. I see from other comments in this thread that i need a decoder and who to get it from - but what about the disk - is this in the start sector or is it something that will be on some random character somewhere. Any clues on where to find it would be appreciated

Well, the disc can be found on a special char which you will meet eventually.
Everybody meets him in a normal JA game, and UC is no different.
Also there is supposed to be another one in a safe or somthing on one of the maps.
