I lent my deadly games to a friend (which disappeared. Have been looking for a voiced working 1.13 game since then. Here is my tip if you're in the same boat:
Google Jagged Alliance and Deadly Games (With Voices). Download the torrent. If you cant manage to find seeders, i might be able to seed it for you. msn/mail: raecer@gmail.com
I noticed some had problems with CD protection with the 1.13 patch. I thought i had problems with that as well, but i noticed i could start DG.exe without dosbox, but not with it so that kinda narrowed it down ^^ Turned out i didnt mount the cdrom properly using dosbox. Anyway, here is my instructions for getting it to work. Tomorrow im gonna try some multiplayer with a friend. Hope someone finds it useful.

Burn or mount using Daemon tools e.t.c
Install Deadly Games, just exit setsound for now.

Download and Install D-fend reloaded --> D-fend Reloaded

Patch Deadly Games to 1.13 (included in torrent, i'll let you figure this one out)

Open D-fend reloaded
Profile --> Add
Profile Name: Anything, Example: Deadly games
Program file: Choose DG.exe in install location
Setup File: Choose Setsound.exe in install location

Choose DosBox settings in the left list. Turn off "Close DOSBox when program closes". (This keeps the window open in case something goes wrong and helps narrow the problem down).

Choose Drives in the left list
Delete the .\VirtualHD\ one. You should now have an empty list.
Add --> Folder as hard disk --> Folder for mounting = Game install location
Press Ok
Add --> CD-Drive --> Folder for mounting = Your CD drive or mounted image. example F:\
Remember the drive letter below.
Press ok twice to get back to main window

Explore install location --> Open CD.ROM file with notepad. Change letter to previously mentioned drive letter. save and close.

Rightclick the profile you created and pick "Run setup".
Select soundcard for digital sound and music. Remember to test settings and make sure they work.
Soundblaster worked for me. Save and exit.

Doubleclick profile to start game.
Feel free to turn Dosbox auto close back on when you're done and have made sure everything works.

If the game runs fine, disregard the rest:

[If the gameplay is laggy, make sure Profile --> Edit --> CPU --> CPU cycles is set to auto.
If it isnt, try with it turned on.
If that doesnt work, click value, start program and change cycles manually with ctrl+f11 (decrease) and ctrl+f12 (increase). Use alt+enter to escape full screen (lets you view cpu cycles up top.) Find optimal value, type it into CPU Cycle value and next time it will start with that value.]

Also, i would like to thank you guys for an awesome forum i've been lurking in for ages ^^
Its nice knowing im not the only one with an addiction to jagged...

/Jimmy

Bump. This should be stickied because it is the definitive solution (despite involving a torrent) to getting JA/DG working. God bless raecer.

I understand about the torrents entirely. However I'm sure this would work for legitimate versions as well, since as we all know, DOS is annoying.

I got this to work on Windows XP just fine (it was the way to get it working that I had previously searched for).

Sorry about the slow reply. Been a while since i last checked on this post.

It does actually work, yes ^^
I set this up on my stationary and my laptop, both running Windows XP SP2.
I see no reason that it shouldnt work on other platforms as well since dosbox has been ported elsewhere. I havent gotten around to testing it though.

My stationary is getting a bit outdated but its a 2,2ghz AMD. Dosbox has no problems adapting to faster PC's than mine afaik.

I understand the point about dosbox being annoying. I myself started using a frontend for Dosbox immediately so i wouldnt have to do the configurations manually.
With D-fend reloaded i could create different Dosbox configurations for different games. Im pretty sure there was some way of doing it in Dosbox too, but i just never got around to it.
You should really look into it, because its alot more userfriendly ^^

I had alot of fun playing a user-created coop-campaign with a friend called Drug wars. He's not really into the whole PvP thing. On both computers with vastly different specs, the game ran pretty much flawlessly.

Also, im sorry about the torrent part. At the moment of posting i knew it was probably frowned upon but i wanted to spread the happy news that it finally worked Razz This solution is also valid for the original version of the game.

Glad you got it to work Never_Darktide ^^ Hope others try it as well. Although it only really shines in multiplayer IMO.

Edit:
Just in case anyone wonders how we got network up and running, i think there was a setting in d-fend reloaded to allow it to emulate the IPX protocol. You picked Server or client, and on the computers that were clients you typed in the Servers current IP Adress.
When starting the game as a server, it waited a few secounds for clients to connect so its advisable to start the game simoultaneously.

If someone is still interested in this, theres a much easier solution.

Buy this game for a few bucks at gog.com
Run the setup, click a few times yes and enjoy.

Its the full game with voice.
After clicking the desktop shortcut a pre-configured DOSBox is started
It runs smoothly with all windows versions

Seconded.

I picked it up and its basically the same solution as above, only you dont have to tinker with it.

One nice streamlined installer that installs the game.
It also installs dosbox and adds ready-to-go configurations for it.

Clicking the shortcut starts the game (and also starts recieving ipx connections as server, using the dosbox emulation).

Clicking another shortcut named client gives you a prompt with: Enter ip of server.
You can play locally or over the internet as long as your firewalls are properly configured.

Been replaying the campaign "Drug wars" (found here:http://jadg.terravirtua.com/multic.html) with a friend that loves the game almost as much as me. Way too much fun.

(My friend played on quad core windows 7 machine, myself on dualcore XP SP3) Gotta love dosbox.

Thanks to this topic my Deadly Games works without problems, im loving it.

But for some stupid reason i cant make the original JA work when updated using this method, it works without the patch but if i try to install the Frontend doesn't run it.
