Hi everyone!

I am a new comer and have a question I been having a hard time to find a solution for.

In one of your forums, I found a discussion about JAPE, for JA2 1.13
It works great and all. But... JA Wildfire has new stuff and some changed too.

Do you know a similar program (JAPE) that will work 100% on JA Wildfire?

I f You're are speaking about retail WF 6:

Jape works, but is tricky since the Item names are not always wright.
Due to some probs it should only used once (before landing in Arulco)

Problems? What problems?
-I used it several times after that, and I see no problems. It works for me, besides the fact that names changed and new items were added.

Is there a similar program that works on wildfire?

In the German (retail) WF Forums a lot of issus were posted.

- destroyed savegames
- mercs which couldn't be hired
- repeatable freezes
and many more

the overall solution was:
Use it only once
after You have composed Your squad,
before You land in Arulco,
only mercs IN Your squad





there was a special WF6 edition for WF 6 (unfortunately I don't have access to it at the moment) with which You could edit some things before You started a new game)

I mailed the PE for WF to a couple of guys.

Wow!
Since I am just in the first few towns, I might have not identified any problems just yet.

It's funny how the creator of JAPE (Douglas Greiman) told me to come here, to look for a Wildfire solution. Specially since it is here is where I first find out about JAPE.

That sounds mostly like WF issues not caused by jape but blamed on jape Wink I have played wildfire several times, both v5 and v6, and often used jape to fix things. Indeed I have always only edited mercs already in my squads. I have never had any trouble. The only time jape ever messed up a save for me was in JA2 vanilla, so obviously it can always happen. The sane thing to do is to copy the savegame before editing it. I am using the english version 0.41 btw.
