Greetings.

Trying to track a rogue situation when enemy would throw a flare at me at night when he didnt have sight of me and was way too far to hear me fire.
I'm playing lastest 1.13 no mods, favor night ops with silencers, my weapons are Aug PARA and FN P-90, loudness 7 and 11 respectively. Last time this happened with enemies were at ~16 tiles away.
My suppressors are 90% and 97% condition.

Now, I did throw a flare at an opponent and maybe they are supposed to detect you if they saw anything throwable coming their way?
But i cannot reproduce this "toss a flare back" situation - in other times when i'd throw a flare from a closer distance, ~13 tiles, enemy'd just run away from light and thats it. Maybe try to come back to light towards me and run away again.

From what item status window tells me, worn suppressor just decreases its effectiveness, meaning worn suppressor gives less proportional volume resistance. Saw my FN P-90 go to 12 loudness because of that. Is this information correct, or misleading? I mean, it seems to me that % of missing suppressor condition = % chance that suppressor wont suppress the next shot.

Can someone who coded the game clear this up please?

Though i cannot help with the suppressor question, i made the observation that AI is very able to track the source direction and distance of any bullet they hear impact somewhere.
So maybe one of your silenced shots did miss and hit a wall, or went through some bushes or something?

Nope. So far my testing confirms it. I set wear_suppressor to false in inis, repaired my supressors, and never have this problem again. AI will ONLY throw a flare if he sees or hears movement or shot.

Only.

Tested by throwing all sort of crap in AI's face(when my merc is one tile away from being spotted when throwing and enemy is facing me) and AI never retaliates to thrown item with a flare. It however will ocasinally throw a flare at me if i just shoot it when my silencer goes below 95%. So far i killed about 100 enemies and most of them were elites and no flare in the face anymore having 100% silencers. It was like once or more per combat (32 enemies) before.
