There has been some activity in the original Urban Chaos section of the forum concerning the Urban Chaos-1.13 Hybrid, otherwise a v1.13 mod designed to allow the Urban Chaos campaign to be played, so I thought it would be best to clarify that this mod does exist, but is generally discussed in the v1.13 section. Below are the important bits:

Most Recent Version: 20110619 Urban Chaos-1.13 v3.55

Most Recent Patch: UC-1.13 v3.56 (Patch for v3.55)

Tais' Single Click Installer (covers Jagged Alliance 2 v1.13, original Urban Chaos data, and UC-1.13 v3.50a updated to v3.53 in one spanned archive - grab the two files):
MediaFire - Please remember to patch to v3.55, see v3.55 Release Notes for more details

System Requirements:
1) Jagged Alliance 2 v1.13 rev 4552 (Spring 2011 + patch) or newer

2) Original Urban Chaos Data folder (One of the suggested repositories or just run a web search for "Urban Chaos Installer")

OK, total n00b here. How do I install this? Right now I've downloaded the double 7zip file, extracted it, copied it into the JA2 folder. Then I extracted and copied the update folders. When I start the game, it crashes. What am I doing wrong?

As I've given these instructions before, I've decided to list the unofficial quick install instructions in the mod's FAQ here: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=287173#Post287173 Do not download anything more than what is specified in the five steps.

These instructions are expected to remain valid for a few weeks as I am not planning on another release until the anticipated new patch for v1.13 is out.

Tais' older SCI's IS DOWN. The link no longer works. Can someone please fix this? I'd really love to play this!

Also I'm extremely confused how to go about installing this... there's so many different versions of patches, 1.13 downloads, and SCI version files... I don't know what to do. I even saw a version of 1.13 that was 4915... which doesn't make sense since 4870 is the latest version. Oo Can someone please explain this mess to me? And do I even need Tais SCI files since those new SCI files are available near the end of page two in the UC 1.13 main thread, #303446 at [url=http://]www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php/topics/287414/2.html[/url]?? Really confused here...

Can someone update an instructions page with the most update stable versions of every download and make sure all of the links work please? The guy who started this thread can't do it, he hasn't logged on in nearly three months.

...I was on the UC-1.13 sub-forum just yesterday, are you sure you've been looking? Anyways if you want UC-1.13 to run under the last Stable version of v1.13, Tais' SCI is not for you (as it is based on more advance versions of SCI that he has kindly compiled). Instead:

Standard Install Instructions

Part 0: Install your retail Jagged Alliance 2 somewhere mod friendly. ie. NOT any folder including the phrase: Program Files (x86)

Part 1a: Get the original Urban Chaos Data folder from somewhere... One of these sources for example:

I seem to be confused by the steps. It could be b'cos i'm thick Embarrassed

I would like to play Jagged Alliance 2 Urban Chaos in 1.13, but the error that i'm getting after completing all the steps is this :

Runtime Error
Press to Exit
Number of tilesets in code does not match data file

I think i got LOST somewhere along the installation process. Let me explain what i did. Perhaps you can help me troubleshoot.

Part 0 - Installed a fresh copy of JA2 into F:\JA2 ( avoided C:\ )

Part 1a - downloaded a copy of original UC from Kermi's ( file name : JA2UC 192 MB )

Part 1b - Ran into problems here! Rename which file as DATA-UC ? There is no URBAN CHAOS DATA in the 1st place.

Part 2 - downloaded a copy of 1.13 4870 & ran it. ( file name : JA2_113_FullReleaseEng 4870 132 MB )

Part 3 - Data
Data-1.13
can't complete Data-UC as i'm lost here! do you mean 'copy' or 'install' ?
From my understanding, it is really simple as i only have 2 files downloaded excluding the fresh installation
of JA2. I see a lot of 'DATA' folders after extracting everything. Could i have over-written certain files by
mistake?

Part 4 - After extracting/double-clicking Urban Chaos-1.13 v3.65.1 20120421, there are Data-Graphics & Data-UC113
Do i drag these 2 files into F:\JA2 ? Or extract/install straight away into F:\JA2 ?

Data ( i do see this folder BUT i'm not sure whether its the vanilla JA2 or UC or 1.13 :confused: )
Data-1.13 ( should b correct ! )
Data-Graphics ( should b correct ! )
Data-UC ( i don't have this & have no idea how to get this. )
Data-UC113 ( should b correct ! )

Again, someone is lucky I glanced over this thread as I was logging in to do something else...

Looks like you got lost in Part 1. I used the phrasing "Get the original Urban Chaos Data folder from somewhere" as how you "get" the Data folder is different depending on your source. Also, somewhere folder got turned into file in your mind.

A few useful definitions:

Install - run an executable

Extract - unpack from a zip or 7zip archive

With the resource you have named, you must install the original Urban Chaos to a dummy folder. Technically, you must extract the original Urban Chaos installer's files from Kermi's archive first, then you can run the installer. I used to have instructions for that:

1) Create dummy folder
2) Copy JA2.exe into dummy folder
3) Install the original Urban Chaos in the dummy folder. ie. run the original Urban Chaos installer and point it to the dummy folder, it will be satisfied that it is a real JA2 folder by the presence of JA2.exe.
4) After you have installed Urban Chaos in the dummy folder, you will find a folder named Data in the dummy folder. This is the folder named Data that Part 1b instructs you to rename as Data-UC

Hey, sorry a bunch of crap happened and I totally forgot about this until now!

I just followed the instructions with no problems until I got to the end.

What is the INI Editor? I see no such thing, I've never even heard of that. I searched all the installed folders and found nothing like that. And what do I do with it, once I find or download it? I mean, its an editor right? What do I edit and how do I change it?

Also, I tried starting the JA2 main exe and all I keep getting is a "binkw32.dll was not found".

Can someone please help me please? I have no idea what to do.
