Would it be possible to have ini editor create a text file with all the changes made every time one saves in the editor? Ideally it would export the changes since the last change AND the changes from "default", but just the changes from default would be sufficient. This way one could easilly keep track of the INI settings between playthroughs (which might be months or years apart) and it would be easier to discuss changes with other players.

Hmmm... just a random idea, use version control on your installation of the game.
Basics of git are really simple. You could then branch and roll back changes as you wish.
