Replication Path
Uninstalled exiting Steam JA2 Gold image. Deleted install directory. Emptied recycle bin to be sure.
Did a full reinstall of JA2 Gold, Steam version.
Installed 1.13 v. 8796.
Installed latest available AIMNAS from Github, downloaded on 22 Jun 2020.
Added Wine video DLL patch files to install directory.
Used default settings (also occurs with other resolutions), fullscreen.
Hire/create any merc.
Enter A9/Omerta.
Sneak off any map edge that contains enemy troops (West edge usually works).
Fastforward to contact.
When the enemy contact dialog appears, opt to Enter the map (i.e., do not autoresolve).
You will be taken to the force placement dialog.
There are no deployment bands along the edge of the maps. The Individual and Group placement does not work because there is no place to put them (the enemy deployment area essentially fills the map). The only way to start combat is to use the random [Spread] option.
Notes:
This does not happen in vanilla 1.13 8796.
This may have manifested in earlier versions.
I have not spotted any more reports of this in the forums. I have no idea whether it is unique to my installation/system.
