I just thought of this the other day and I think it would be great.
Basically what I imagine is that there should be another delivery mode (Air drop) which costs even more than overnight delivery (maybe double?), works just as fast and can deliver to any sector. I did consider limiting it to safe airspace, but that is not necessary, since BR's can already deliver to airports that are within unsafe airspace as of now.
The list of suitable destinations could be reworked by removing all those useless destinations (e.g. Vancouver) and adding all the sectors (A1, A2, etc.). Drassen, Meduna, and all AIMNAS-destinations (Chitzena Port, San Mona Airfield, etc.) should probably be at the top of the list for convenience.
Every sector could that have one fixed location where air drops appear (I assume it is easier to mod and less prone to errors / unreachale locations), maybe in the form of a 2x2 tiles parachute with a crate.
The main reason for this is that it gives more freedom in how to play the game. At the moment you a pretty much forced to take Drassen (or another destination) and you have to hold that sector at any cost. Plus you cannot order anything at the beginning of the game. A side benefit would be that the logistics-element of the game would become a lot easier, cause, let's be honest: Not much is happening in Drassen once you have reached Estoni. Having to pick up stuff in Drassen is a pain.

The hardest part, suprisingly, would be to spawn a crate. As that is impossible in maps where the tileset doesn't allow it
Apart from that, sure, spawning items somewhere can be done even if the map is not loaded. The fixed location would have to be the center of the map (not the geometrical center, but the one tile where mercs inevitably arrive if the game isn't sure how they got there) as setting those up per xml is tedious work.
Personally I don't see the need (I actually like having to take strategic positions into account, as well as stretched supply lines) but it could be done relatively easy.
I know now that it could never work between us, as much as we wanted to, it could never be! Not because you're a rabbit, but because you're black.
If you want, you can donate to me. This will not affect how and what I code, and I will not code specific features in return. I will be thankful though.Report message to a moderator

Old thread but I do like the air drop idea. Any chance of Bobby Ray's becoming a physical location. Maybe a quest you trigger like for example securing San Mona...plenty of cheap space there after you clear out the criminal element.
