- is there an article about the mod. ie, can not find anything about gun runners when i google it, only saw tony was leader of them and sells guns like vanilla.
- gun runners attack me, why? can i buy weapons from tony if i kill them?
- what do you know anything about satan's sons.
are game npcs only source of info about the uc lore/world?
can not find a gun to accept rod & spring in urban chaos. i have 6 rod & spring in early game but there is not a single weapon to attach it. how can i see the list of rifles that accept rod & spring?

Rod and spring provides a reduction in AP for burst and auto fire only. It can be installed on most any weapon capable of those fire modes but there are exceptions to this. Hover the cursor over empty attachment slots to find the ones that accept r&s. It's possible that, depending on the mod, that certain other attachments may be incompatible with r&s or can only be installed in the only slot that will also accept a r&s forcing a choice of one or the other but not both. When you are at Bobby Rays, hovering the cursor over a weapons image should give a list of allowable attachments. If an r&s can be installed it should show in that list.
i am playing urban chaos, day is 46 and there is no single weapon allows that. this mod is kinda weird i have a colt commando-like rifle since day 1 but there is no ammo (5.56) for that. bobby ray's also doesnt sell it.
the point is, vanilla ja2 colt rifles, g3-like nato weapons and ak rifles are all allowing rod&spring while in this urban chaos mod or 1.13 doesnt. why?
you can not attach r&s on none of these weapons you see in the picture.

I checked several of the weapons in your screenshot and when I look them up in Bobby Ray's inventory the ones I checked show r&s as allowable attachments. I have numerous weapons with r&s installed in both UC and 1.13 and they work just as they are supposed to.
This isn't the first time you have reported problems for you that work just fine for me. I have no idea what is causing your difficulties. All I can do is tell you what is working for me.
well i am using sevenfm's modpack, maybe because of that?
also can you say me which slot you are using to attach r&s? i can see what type of attachments i can use when i hover my mouse on those slots. can you post a screenshot at least?

I don't have clearance to post screenshots, I already tried. Not enough posts yet I guess.
In 1.13 the rod and spring goes in the attachment slot centered under the weapon. It's labeled "internal attachments". In UC it varies somewhat by weapon. Most seem to attach in any of the four slots in the bottom right corner of the weapon window.
As to my install I am using SCI_UC-1.13_ v4.6 (10.05.2019)_on_JA2_v1.13_r8675_g2475 installed over a clean version of JA2.
well, i am uploading screenshots to imgur not here. this forum doesnt have an upload feature. that "upload file" button is unusable and admin forgot to remove that i guess.
anyway my version is stable one 7609 and i started to think my game is broken. when hovering your mouse over weapon slots (after right click on weapon) it says the attachment type right? for example you can attach laser upper slot while bipod goes to bottom one. but some weapons have 3 laser slots lol.
i am also having a problem with grenade launcher too. it doesnt accept 40mm grenades. here screens;
what type of grenade do i have to use with it? as you see in the picture when hoverin on grenade launcher it indicates that yellow and red 40mm grenades but it doesnt work. other grenades (vog) are not working either.
and another problem with this weird gun (stk squad support weapon). it has 25 tiles laser range WOW but i can not add 40mm grenades despite it has internal talon. there is no slots to load grenades to this weapon here;

Once again, something that works just fine for me. I can load 40mm grenades into a STK no problem, same as any other GL. My STK window shows 12 attachment slots, yours shows only two. 4 of mine are where the grenades are loaded, the rest are for attachments. Mine even has a slot ABOVE the integral sight that lets me mount a variety of ARS magnifiers.
I have noticed weapons with more than one slot for lasers. But if I try to attach more than one it tells me I can't.
Your problem isn't how to do things in game, it's "What's wrong with my game?". Something is obviously broken. I can help with in game actions but I can't troubleshoot your install.
are you sure you are trying that in urban chaos? because normal 1.13 works fine for me too. the problem is uc. and again this is sevenfm's original modpack which is 1.13 7609 version.
i should play urban chaos with last unstable 1.13 i guess.

Something seems to be borked with your install, MP5 should definitely have more attachment slots (scopes, grips and all that). So I just started a new game with Seven's 7609 modpack, started UC, and this is how MP5 looks:
Maybe try reinstalling the whole thing or something, item changes should not mess with the save, so you should be able to continue normally.
The modpack is working perfectly fine for me and many others.
Instal it the proper way and it should work.
1. instal original JA2 (not in any Windows-Folder)
2. download modpack + Readme
3. unzip downloaded modpack
4. copy the content of unzipped modpack
5. open original Ja2-instal, until you are where you see the exe
6. drag the copied content there
7. overwrite when asked
8. open ini-editor
9. choose matching vfs-config and ini-file (keyword is: matching) for mod of choice
10. play
Read the Readme for further info, can be downloaded at same place

This is what I did. Since my last post I just tested it again and the game works. I now have two working installs of UC.
1. install original JA2 (not in any Windows-Folder)
2. download modpack + Readme I didn't work off of the modpack. I used SCI_UC-1.13_ v4.6 (10.05.2019)_on_JA2_v1.13_r8675_g2475
3. unzip downloaded modpack
4. copy the content of unzipped modpack
5. open original Ja2-instal, until you are where you see the exe
6. drag the copied content there I skipped steps 3 -6. I copied the SCI into the folder with my JA2 basic and installed it there.
7. overwrite when asked
8. open ini-editor
9. choose matching vfs-config and ini-file (keyword is: matching) for mod of choice Since I didn't use the modpack steps 8 and 9 weren't necessary.
10. play
i started game with ja2_7609en+AI_r2044.exe then continued with normal "ja2.exe". is this a problem?
also i play non-scifi version and disable tons of guns option maybe this preferences cause that problem? (because somwhere in urban chaos in underground a scientist type guy game me sci item (green creature piece in jar) and told me to go some creature's lair and use tear gas to neutralize it. this can not happen in vanilla if you choose realistic game and weapon trigger groups are disabled too)

there is no urban chaos ini file in editor, so it automatically selects "data-1.13\ja2_options.ini" file by default, is this correct?

i just did this again but didnt work. but have to say you have missed the most important one, performance fix for windows 10. how to hell you make that fixes because i always make that fixes without knowing any shit and this time that fixes broke my game because right now can not return the game when i do "alt+tab".
plus when i open the game using ja2.exe it gives an error here:
reinstalled everything again but this time i copied "win10fix" folder then i get "jagged alliance 2 v1.13 windowed mode requires a color depth of 16bpp" error when i open the game.
interesting sometimes i get this error sometimes i dont
can i ask for smth? game folder is 4.77gb with sevenfm's modpack. can someone upload this after copying win10 fix dll things?
it seems i simply can not do this. boring boring boringgggg... which merc was saying this anyone remember?
I got an MP5 by starting the game with high Bobby Ray and ordering it, no playing whatsoever. But that is not important, your problem with attachments probably comes from disabling the tons of guns, it's a thing that is poorly supported in stock 1.13 and probably has the same problems in AFS/UC.
There is probably no real advantage to using Seven's modpack unless you plan on using +AI, and those starting screen warnings are because of differences between standard exe and Seven's (they just overwrite some values that work differently in ini files with default values when started). They are not important, just ignore them.
As for Win10 compatibility fixes, they are kind of unreliable. For example, on my system, none of them work with alt tabbing (not the old one, not the registry one, not the new one, not the dgvoodoo, not the dxwnd, not the dxwrapper...), so you'll just have to find the one that works the best for you and deal with it...
i see. can you say similar thing you said about tons of guns feature for sci-fi/realistic option too? because i couldnt find deidranna both in her secret room in shelter and throne room last time i played and finished the vanilla game with last unstable version in last summer. i mean maybe she wasnt in the game because i selected realistic not sci-fi
Well, SF/realistic should have no influence on the queen's position, but who knows although there has been some talk last couple of days about queen's position being wrong or something, Kitty and ShaDoOoW would probably know better what have they done with it so if they did fix it, it should work in latest versions now.
It's been a couple of years since I actually played the game to the end, I usually lose interest in the late game as it gets pretty uninteractive and predictable, and at some point the game is won anyhow, nothing you do can lose it, so can't say much about queen position. Maybe it's the time to push one campaign to the bitter end
anyway i have to start a new game then (with tons of guns selected). i wonder if modders fixed this problem in later versions so i can play unstable recent ones since 7609 is too old. the reason why i didnt select "tons of guns" is i dont like bazillions of same weapons with same stats. there is a weapon trash in 1.13 (especially pistols) so can not focus to game because of this.
btw, i originally opened this thread for asking in game questions for urban chaos and i have killed at least 8 unique npcs which are mostly gun runner guys. i didnt attack them first. i wonder if they involved somehow in some quests? in vanilla ja2 if the npc is unique then you always get some unique dialogues right?
Queen Deidranna not showing up in basement was fixed by Shadoow in r8961.
Has nothing to do with Sci-Fi. If choosing Sci-Fi and enable Creatures, you'll see the Bug-Queen in a mine - but that's not Deidranna.
Installing:
I don't realy get your video. I mean, the task is basicly just "copy and paste".
"copy" content of desired mod or modpack and "paste" it into original JA2, overwrite when asked.
that's it.
Ini-Editor UC in modpack:
yes, if a mod has no own ini-file, use 1.13-ini
but, since this is the modpack, I'd advice to use the Data-User-ini
if you wonder why, read the readme seven is providing at same place where modpack can be downloaded
switching exe during campaign:
i wouldn't advice to do this
as for modpack, I would advice to use the +AI-exe - that's how it's intented
win10-fixes:
if using a win10-fix, only use one
for me, the one by Someone64 is working, but like Latzee said, this mustn't be true for anybody else
depends on a myriad of factors - like OS, GraphicCard, setup of machine, random Windows madness, etc.
all I can advice is to use only one at a time and reading the descriptions (there are links to threads, readme's, etc.)
if you don't know what to do, don't do it
is causing Win10 problems for you? Like running extremly slow, etc. or is it just for Alt-Tab?
if only Alt-Tab, is it worth the trouble? It doesn't take long to restart the game
overall:
don't rush, take your time
you don't need to try all features at once, it adds to re-playability if you choose more from time to time
gun-runners in UC:
I wouldn't advice to kill them early in game. tony, the weapon dealer is part of this group
they shouldn't attack you - unless you lockpicked a door or crate they own and/or picked up items they own - or accidently hurt one, e.g. one was to close to explosion
unique npc's are the ones with a name, having just the group-name is no unique npc
choosing 7609 or latest 1.13 and mods:
if you wanna play mods, choose 7609 - the vast majority of mods uses 7609 as base
for 1.13 there is only one new mod, DSM. All others are updates of old ones. Each of those requires a special version of 1.13, none the very latest 1.13
you may should consider to play an unmodded version of newer 1.13 to get a feeling for newer features, before putting a mod ontop
as for 7609, if choosing a mod, may start with a map-mod alone first. Maybe WF- or AR-maps (without SDO)?
ini-settings:
take your time. think of those like game-settings in Skyrim or Fallout, nothing wrong with spending hours to decide
try to read feature-descriptions before choosing feature, to get an idea what this feature may do
- dude if you watched the video you would've seen that i do exactly same thing as you do. so installing is not the problem as a few of you claimed before. then i suspected game settings (sci-fi/realistic and tons of guns/reduced options) may cause this problems and latzee tried & approved. after that i tried and saw myself that the problem about the attachments is broken "tons of guns" option. if you dont select tons of guns option before starting game you dont get most weapon attachments like rod&spring or some grenade launchers. this was not a case in vanilla.
- about the data-user INI, sevenfm said that you dont need to choose that because game is already considering that INI file even if you dont select it in INI editor. for example i changed settings in data-user INI file and didnt select it in INI editor but still saw the changes in the game. so whatever you do, data-user INI is number one priority in the load list and loading last in the order.
- alt-tab is very important for me, i cant do without it i found a new fix works for me but this time ctd happened a few times when i did alt+tab, so i gave up using it and returned my old one. i dont know what's the problem but that win-7-8-10 fix folder is different in different versions. they look like same but they are not. the one in sevenfm's docs folder is not working for me for example and i couldnt figure it out until this time because i thought that fix is same in all 1.13 versions.
here these are the ones working for me. copying these dlls fix the problem with little drawback which makes your desktop resolution same as your game resolution as long as the game is opened. so when you do alt+tab you get 1024x768 res. but this is not a big problem for me.
- about the unique npcs, it seems you didnt understand me i am not talking about the group "gun runners" there is a unique npc in gun runners group with the name "Gun Runne" it seems very weird for me. he sounds/reacts just as other "unique" npcs not ordinary soldiers when you shoot him and history log gets updated when you kill him. you can see the log here the list of some NPCs with no interactions. the question is in the vanilla game you can interact with every unique NPC in somehow but in this mod you just kill them as they were ordinary enemy troop.
guys i restarded the game. can someone tell me is there a reason to not kill gun runners? they have the best weapons for early game while common troops have shitty PMs. also they are my main source for 5.56 ammo.
You can try raising militia strength in autoresolve (under Militia strength settings, shouldn't require new game). Since light blue guys are supposed to be equivalent of red shirts, with equal numbers and them having some elites, it shouldn't be impossible to lose this, but, yes, it seems a bit too one sided.
i thought green militias equal to healty red shirts and experienced blue militias equal to strong red shirts so dark blue ones are equal to elite enemies...
btw why no one is playing this mod? i can not find anything about this game in the forum.

simply "ja2 UC" in google gives me several pages of results
they are most likely about the technical topics i want to talk about the mod's lore. like when does we attack satans' sons, gun runners, pin groups, kingpin or the police. they sometimes attack me sometimes not (i know night thing). i want to talk about the game, quests you know not guns & technical things.

Start the game. Read the emails. This should already give you the first quest.
When you want to know what to do, look at ingame-laptop under History. Active Quests are red.
If at night in sector, some civilian groups will attack you. Don't go there at night, if you don't want this.
It's totally up to you how to deal with GunRunners. But killing them may has consequences. In original UC (without 1.1), Tony was part of this group. So you'll loose him as arms-dealer.
Instead of Terrorists, you can go hunting for Creapton-Managers.
Maria is replaced with Journalist Mirinda. Free her from corrupt police (blow up wall of prison or kill all Port Kip Police). Bruce is giving you this quest.
If you get your hands on MOC-list, Yannie might could help decipher it.

- already know all of the tips you wrote there but i have a question; there is a woman on south west of calisto her name claudia or smth like that. she stands near black limousine, she is one of the creapton managers but why she is not in the bounty list? what is the point of killing her? when you decapitate her you get ordinary head.

Generally, because it's an older mod with not so much support these days. For things like chatting about characters and quests you're probably better off discussing or looking in the thread for the original (non 1.13) mod, as hardly any of these features would have been changed. Wil473 *just* updated the older, original mod to make use of newer 1.13 features.
*and when I say *just* I mean a sh!t ton of work and effort.
in vanilla if there is a switch then it must had some use but in this mod they are literally everywhere and havent found any use of these switches yet.
first of all i was still thinking that red ammo is always better than anyone in the game but got suprised when found out red one is no "AP" but "duplex" (no idea what duplex is). anyway after that i realised white "match" ammo is better than red "duplex" ammo. here comparing them:
red "duplex" | 0.80 ammo piercing value while decreasing range by -10 tiles.
white "match" | 0.75 ammo piercing value while increasing range by +12 tiles.
Duplex ammo is a cartridge with two bullets in it, in theory good as it doubles the amount of projectiles and therefore chance of hitting something, in practice, it never really got to the point where it was used outside of testing/prototypes. So it should be at least borderline SF item. Generally, match grade ammo should be the highest quality "normal" ammo.
Well, seeing as the M198 round that this 7.62x51 duplex round is probably supposed to represent has been discontinued since the late 60s and even then was produced in pretty limited amounts, a realistic price would probably reflect its rarity more than just the quality. Now whether it's worth it in regards of ingame performance, don't know.
