What are Strategic Transport Groups?
Strategic Transport Groups are a new type of group that the Queen can send out to important towns. They carry extra gear, drop more loot, and if they complete their route, provide bonuses to the Queen and the Arulco Strategic Division (ASD).

What's new?
Transport groups will be dispatched from the capital and sent to cities around Arulco. They carry extra supplies and weapons to towns to acquire resources from towns that the Queen controls. On the strategic map, they're almost indistinguishable from the regular reinforcement and patrol groups that already dot the map. They also do not seek combat and will not reinforce nearby groups.

Each transport group's route is a round-trip between Meduna and a random mine. Every time a transport group successfully reaches a mine, loyalty across the country will drop slightly as the group serves as a reminder of the Queen's reach (EXPERT and INSANE only). When a transport group returns to the capital, they deliver supplies, goods, and recruits stolen from the populace. If you're playing with the Arulco Strategic Division enabled, this means that it gets a boost of money and fuel (EXPERIENCED, EXPERT, and INSANE only). In general, the enemy reinforcement pool also slightly replenishes (EXPERIENCED, EXPERT, and INSANE only).

What do I get for defeating a transport group?
The most important reward here is that members of a transport group always drop everything on their person. This happens regardless of your DROP_ALL setting, so it's extra rewarding if you don't play with DROP_ALL! As you progress through the game, transport groups will tend to carry more valuable items and ammo.

A lesser and not so visible benefit is that each transport group interception denies resources to the Queen that she would have otherwise gained if the group completed its route. The Queen's benefits vary depending on your difficulty.

How do I track down transport groups?
Some mercs have an easier time tracking down these groups:
- Mercs with Scouting can determine if a transport group is in an adjacent sector.
- Radio Operators are able to detect transport groups from a few sectors away.
- If a Spy or Covert Ops merc is gathering intel in a town, they'll be able to tell you if a transport group is en route. They will not be able to tell you exactly where the group is, however.
- Turncoats in towns can also tell you if a transport group is on the way. The amount of turncoats required varies depending on the type of turncoat (admin, troop, or elite).
- If you're playing with Arulco Rebel Command, keep an eye on the missions list - you can forge transport orders to a friendly town!
On the strategic map, sectors with transport groups will be shaded yellow. Towns with a group en route will have all of their sectors coloured yellow.

Transport group en route to Cambria!

Once you've found a transport group in tactical - if you're playing with LOBOT enabled - you will notice that significantly more enemy soldiers will be wearing backpacks. That's how you can visually tell that you've encountered a transport group!

What's in all the backpacks?

How can I customise transport groups?
In Items.xml, I've added two new tags - <TransportGroupMinProgress> and <TransportGroupMaxProgress>. These tags are progress bounding values that can be attached to many items, and they control the progress values where this item can be present in transport groups.
Here is a list of valid items that can be tagged:
- All ammo boxes (NOT magazines, bullets, or crates) (item class 1024)
- All guns (item class 2)
- Grenades (item class 256)
- Items with the <GrenadeLauncher> tag
- Items with the <RocketLauncher> tag
- Items with the <CamouflageKit> tag
- Items with the <ToolKit> tag
- Items with the <GasCan> tag
- First aid kits (<Medical> tag + <FirstAidKit> tag)
- Medical kits (<Medical> tag + <MedicalKit> tag)
- Other medical items (<Medical> tag)
- Backpacks (item class 131072 + LBE class 4)
- Radios (item flag 33554432)
- Bipods (item class 268435456 + attachment class 1)
- Muzzles (item class 268435456 + attachment class 2)
- Lasers (item class 268435456 + attachment class 4)
- Sights (item class 268435456 + attachment class 8)
- Scopes (item class 268435456 + attachment class 16)
- Foregrips (item class 268435456 + attachment class 4096)
- Face Items (item class 32768)
- Miscellaneous items (item class 268435456)

How do I enable this feature?
You can either enable the Strategic Transport Groups toggle in the Features menu, or set STRATEGIC_TRANSPORT_GROUPS_ENABLED = TRUE under [Strategic Gameplay Settings] in JA2_Options.ini.
Best experienced with DROP_ALL turned off and Arulco Strategic Division (ASD) turned on!

This feature is savegame compatible and can be enabled mid-campaign.
