I've been playing 1.13 for a long time and had searched before but I could never understand the footprint graphic when moving. It goes from yellow-orange-black but what do those marks actually mean?
originally I thought the footprints would be colored until the limit of your moving AP but this is not the case. as I never have enough AP to move all the way to when the footprints turn dark.
I then thought maybe it represented my MAX distance potential without any gear on but tested that and that wasn't it.
my next thought was maybe that its a visual representing 2 or 3 move turns so yellow= 1 turn movement, light orange= 2 turn, movement and dark orange = 3 turn, but if I move the cursor to where the first footprint turns dark and look at the AP cost, then multiply my AP total x 3 the math isn't right so i don't think its meant to show 3 turns.
What exactly are these footprint representing? and is it possible for future 1.13 to have the footprint graphic represent the total usable AP for movement, allowing movement all the way to the final colored footprint?

Same here. But I think the different colors represent the mode of movement (it's a guess that seems to be it)
So when you run you move to the black limit, when crouched or prone it's less than that. the bright yellow seems to be the maximum in your current stance with your current AP and the oranges and reds represent maximum movement if you change to run.
I think AP required for changing stance are not factored in for maximum range of run-movement while you're prone or crouched.
