So i currently use windows 11 ( )
and when i use the alt + enter cheat to skip enemy turns (yes i'm a dirty cheater), the game switches to windowed mode, pressing it again returns it to full screen.

It's very annoying!

Any idea on how to turn of the alt + enter windows hotkey specifically? Would like to still be able to use alt + tab

Guys i have fixed it with a temporary solution, but i hardly understand how.

What i did was go to regedit, search for "DISABLEDWM" and found an entry that led to my Ja2.exe file. I completely deleted this entry, and it's all fixed.

Maybe some of the tech guru's here can explain it a lot better, so that it can help other people in the future?

(this only works when I have my powertoys turned on, in which i swapped my left alt and right alt
it also comes at the cost of not being able to use ALT-strafing/rolling movement)

Edit: Found the permanent solution!
went into ddraw.ini and wrote "fullscreen=true"

was much simpler than the tricks i tried before

Ugh, well...

While the game doesnt switch to windowed mode anymore, the ALT+Enter cheat still doesn't work

I don't quite know why but it seems to have to do with the ddraw.dll that i use.

The one in the windows 8 fix does allow me to use the alt+enter cheat, but i don't use that one because it makes my game lag.

by doing this to the ddraw.ini

So that's it, the only problem is that the speed-up key doesn't work (it makes the game slow-motion when held). But i can live with that.

I prefer having the speed up key working, rather than trying to skip enemy turns. If you are using cheats and want to skip turns, as soon as the battle begins, might as well hit Alt+O to kill all enemies instantly. Doesn't get any faster than this
