Morale has an overall effect on your merc, but especially to markmanship.
Just try to hit an enemy close by when your morale is near zero.

Smoke grenades obstruct your line of view, the are very useful for providing cover for a badly wounded merc out in the open.

Judging by the description, and by the fact that you can put them in a head slot, and by the fact that they can't stack....I'd say that they were replacements for the Walkman. In other words, they make it so your merc can't hear the enemy.

Hey

From what I understand the walkman raises morale but decreases your mercs hearing. I figured that I could replace them with smokes. Smoking while on patrol may raise moral, by calming nerves or just for the nicotine, but it would make you less aware because you're not paying total attention to what you're doing.

That was my rationale. They aren't really a vital item. Always saw those smokes strapped to the helmets of guys in nam in thought it would be neat to have a similar item.

SOG 69 is a work of art. Some of those vietnamese lines are particulary good. This mod is a true form of pure brilliance! Created by an unparallelled genius. If there was Noble prizes for ModMakers, I would vote this mod. Every year. Nuff said.

As for cigs...
Cigarettes (smokes) can be at least repaired (!?!)...
