I remember this problem too. I had the problem with patched maps.

I had some ongoing problems later in the game where the game would crash when some mercs said the line about being careful, there are still enemies present. I would have to go back to an earlier save and try having a merc do something, ending the turn with a different merc active. This would cause someone else to say the line. I would try this until the game stopped crashing. (using the autosave.pls patch, which simply means having any file named "autosave.pls" in your game directory really helped. It saved the game after each combat turn so I always had a recent saved game to go back to in case of crashes.

And I had some problems entering some sectors ( I3 was one of them), and I was using the patched maps. But I eventually solved the problem as I did play that sector.

I am trying to remember how I did this, but I think I got into the sector by having my mercs walk off the map in a neighbouring sector (not using the strategic map to move, but just walking in the tactical screen from one map to the next).

Glad to see some people active here. Long live JA! Thanks for the input CatSpam but I did try walking in. ( I think only from the west ) Interesting that you think that dialogue of specific mercs caused crashes. I am skipping I3 for now but if you can think of anything else I would be happy to hear it. Currently moving to ... can't remember, formerly Cambia via roads but I need to return to Callisto to bolster militia presence. The attacks in this mod are relentless and I love it Smile Who else just loves being in the middle of a enemy vs militia incursion with one lousy low end merc? but I digress.

Try running in windows 95 compatibility mode. Worked for me where all else had failed.

Right click desktop icon, select Properties, click compatibility tab; should be obvious from there on.

Has anyone else solved this I3 problem?
(the solution using Windows 95 compatiblity mode won't work for me - I'm running Windows 2000).
Any help appreciated!
Cheers
JJ

Dear friends, remember to switch off Sym. Antivirus. Strange problems disappeared in JA.

We never actually managed to solve the I3 crash problem. There's another sector in which we have that problem, but I forgot which one.
It's either something with bad mapping (but there's a patch out somewhere in which Bearpit redid/revised some of these faulty sectors) or something with the terrorists whom we've been shuffling around a bit. (we had some problems with those during development as well)

I think you better either stay out of the sector or start a new game. And yes, I know that's no solution. Sad

For the one's who are reading this: you can not enter I3. From no side. I had the same problem in a metro station when i tried to enter the next map (i think it was in Prax)
