If you talked to Brains .... return to that map in Calisto during daylight then take stairs down to cave level .... solution to attacks is there.

The "Drake" mine appearing is a glitch corrected in the as yet unreleased UC map patch.
Drake subway should NOT turn into a cave but accidentally does .... my fault for being careless.
