Ja2 & it's mods are very greedy games in ram terms sometimes... the longer between saves the more temp stuff it has to store, and the more likely it will fall over when faced with a deadlock or a lighting/sound/render clash. Save often. After that getting rid off stuff you don't use in game (the junk) is a good idea.

Getting rid of stuff you don't use on the PC is also always a good idea. So is a regular defrag. Data cleanup and general good housekeeping.
