Not true, Decado. The game was bashed viciously because that's Steam for you. They don't fucking care about reasons or reason, they want AAA quality for indie dollar and they want it NOW. Because everything in their life costs $1 and is made out of solid gold.

The biggest mistake FC did was start a project for a kit-game on KS, with a crowd that pretty much understood and communicated well with them, then move the whole show to Steam EA where everyone talks but nobody listens. Of course nobody bought their explanation of what budget was, what JAF was meant to be from start and what it wasn't.

It was purely a kamikaze dive which failed miserably.

But the game itself, half-baked to the general public as it appears, has some precious core elements that basically is what you'd want if you were thinking of porting JA universe to a modern engine like Unity.

My perspective on the whole thing is not that I have backed FC to make a new JA game. I see the whole KS as the community hiring them to port JA elements to Unity. As many as they could. And they did port A LOT OF THE CORE: turn-based fights, weapons and CTH, cover, mercs, external JSON files, etc. So from my perspective, speaking from the standpoint of Bear's Pit as a community of modders, I am satisfied with what they did. Of course, there are still grey areas and stuff to be added, but lets say a solid 2/3 of the hardest part of the conversion is done.

It took them 1 year to do it. To most of people the costs were below $100. Considering the two years we spent trying to make Stable Modding Platform (and failed), I say a 2/3 Unity port is a awesome thing to have. Furthermore, FC are a great bunch of guys, on personal level, so they will both continue to work for 3/3 and - most important - financially reward anyone who helps them achieve this goal.

For Bear's Pit, that's a homerun.
