So I tried using a GOG version of the game installed in a new directory and that didn't work either, and even installing on a different computer (XP and Win 8.). It *seems* the problem is aggravated if I edit anything within the .ini editor. But I only make changes before starting a new game, and even when I revert back to the original ini the problem still happens. is there anything else that could fix this or cause this?... this is so weird, and sucks because it makes the game hard to play which is shame bc this was becoming one of my favorites.

oh and maybe I didn't explain one of the issues well - the faces come and go, sometimes when I load a game Barry's picture is Barry sometimes it's skyrider and sometimes he's a black square...but it can happen to any merc... that's the most confusing part of all of this the glitch isn't consistent, but I wouldn't mind this as much as not being able to hire new mercs from AIM that kind of brings things to a halt.
