I know right - the inconsistency is crazy!! I'm assuming SCI is single click installer? - I've used DotEmu and GOG. I mis-spook on the 2 computers - I have 2 partitions (XP and Windows 8) on the same hardware. Speaking of hardware I had a random thought. My computer is a relatively new custom built computer but it's got some of latest hardware for it's CPU, RAM, SSD MOBO and GFX... I feel like i've read somewhere that sometimes really new equipment can cause random glitches... could that be the case (However it runs over 30 games, some new some old, without a hitch) either way I will try what you suggested and if I get a clean install make a back up and go from there. Thank you so much Pheloncab, I appreciate your suggestions for this very weird problem!!
