You're right. Looks like it was user error after all. However, I don't remember it behaving like this the last time I played AIMNAS (which was some time ago). It wasn't easy for me to check this as I had moved back to Vengeance Reloaded while awaiting resolution. Might be worth leaving the thread active or appending to the FAQ in case it throws anyone else.
