This looks quite different than BlackDragon's jsd editor. Does it also do things like openables and exploding .jsds like BlackDragon's was supposed to?
Does it handle rooftops or ground textures?

I've digged this up from AIM forums and the history of the development is that BlackDragon and VM first came up with their editor, which broke the deadlock on JSDs, then Pipetz came and took on their work and basically cracked open the JSDs. And the final outcome was this editor, which handled everything and made BlackDragon's obsolete.

I have barely tasted it, so if you want to make a run and do a review, please be my guest.

PS: On Off_topic's model I'll make a discussion topic about this separately so we don't crowd this one. I'll just split the topic from here.

PS: Direct your thanks first to Tiler_Durdan, who discovered these beauties and sent me to the right direction.

Very cool. I should get a few hours this weekend to do just that. I have a Ju57 that is really suffering from having a puny Cesna jsd. It's somewhat embarrassing when other people play my mod.

Ok done uploading all the 3 tools I've digged up. Even the small GIF<=>STI convertor is awesome. Imagine the breakthru... Anyone can edit an animated GIF. And for the more advanced, any 3D tool can export animated GIF sequences.

PS: I need to research a bit how the heck does the animated GIF "remembers" the original keyframes of the STI file. I don't remember aGIF to have keyframe setting...but maybe I am wrong.

Loc: Lords of the Bytes The enthousiasm is there, no doubt about it. It's found everywhere on this forum
Right now features are added left and right. That's what people are enthousiastical about. "I made this and that possible in the game". And that's good!

Thing to keep in focus though is the main thing here: we're making a stable, mod-friendly release. Not "we're growing the game larger and making more possible" which is what's happening a lot right now. It's good as it keeps people interested, involved and enthousiastic. But at the same time the main goal of the SMP should be kept clearly in sight.

It's a good thing though to get in touch with as many modders out there as possible. They're the people that know most what they require to make good mod. They're the people we're doing this for after all.
And expanding the list of modders as wide as possible is a good thing too. The people that "only made a few maps" or "only added some weapons" are the people that could make the next UC. Make the threshold for new modders as low as possible. Lots of people made a few maps, tweaked some weapons, changed mercs. Imagine 5 map-packs, 1 weapon-mod and 10 new NPC's all by seperate people. Combined that's a big mod for people to get enthousiastic about

Dan , hope you'll give lots of input here , think it'll help .
Cheers ( just incase you didn't read this thread )

I could but that's a lot of hassle for something I can use STIEdit for the most part. I'll worry about getting it working when I have to make tilesets.

Trying to keep things varied a bit, so doing a few guns here and a few mags there. Plus a mod in the background. It gets pretty busy!

English translation of the help file for .NET STI-editor by Pipetz added.

Pipetz let me know that by placing a file called help.htm in root folder of the editor it will show english help within program. I've added a link to a Google Translate version of original the Russian help.

More exactly each JSD cube (as we used to think of them) is made out of a 5x5x5 blocks grid.

5x5x4. There are four levels only. Smile

You can compile the editor for the x86 platform instead of 'any cpu'. This forces the program to run in WOW64 mode and allows utilization of x86 libraries.

I just ran
corflags.exe JsdEditor.exe /32BIT+

to change the platform flag accordingly which enabled me to run the editor on Win7 x64.

I don't know. He told that he don't register on Bear's Pit.
He is modding JA2 many years, 6 or more.

I compile the editor for the x86 platform.
JsdEditor.exe depend on csgl.dll
csgl.dll depend on csgl.native.dll
csgl.native.dll is unmanaged assembly.

http://www.esnips.com/doc/f262e4f4-725e-439e-b36b-ea4b6d0bbefa/JSDEditor_x86
I don't test it on x64. My PC is x86.

Open JsdEditor.exe.config, find the line that reads

and replace "ru" with "en".

You need to install the .NET framework. Hold on a sec, I'll grab a link.

Here ya go.

It's a small installation and it's required by any .NET programs you run. Like some of the Russian modding tools.

.net framework has a small install file but then links to the MS servers to download the other 300ish mb...

It's a PITA because of that. I have the full offline installers here just cos I install them on clients computers all the time Sad

Yes, it's common, free and it's direct from MS.

Is it asking you to click to install, or telling you that you have to install it first?
