This has been a mystery for years for me. Does ANYONE else have the official Jagged Alliance 1 strategy guide? I have it in my hands right now but even when I search the ISBN, it comes up with NOTHING on google. I can't even find a PICTURE of it anywhere, let alone any mention of it.

It has detailed maps of every single sector including all items, locked door strengths, and possible quest and dropped items. It even has awesome detail on every merc. Like their chances of readying a knife when attacked by a snake, gun unjamming %, chance to open crates, etc.

Lastly, at the end of the guide, there is a really fun "interview" with Lucas Santino which is really fun to read.

Has anyone else even heard of this before? I would love to buy another one on ebay but I've never seen it auctioned.

Well I finally scanned some pages of the strategy guide. I couldn't find a way to upload them here so I posted the scans on the Good Old Games forums. I hope I am allowed to post the link to the pictures.

Enjoy! http://www.gog.com/forum/jagged_alliance_series/the_mystery_ja1_strategy_guide_scanned_examples_inside

He's clearly about actual Official Strategy Guide book there, and its not located under the provided link. I'd definitely will second the request about it though, being totally unable to locate mentioned PDF using google.

Indeed, they were selling such a guide back then. But you have more chances to ride an unicorn than to find one today.

We actually located a copy:

https://www.facebook.com/bearspit/posts/966321213503339

But it's up to Paul if he's willing to scan it or have other people scan it (Box McLeod offered assistance).
It is not a small feat to scan a whole book, I for one get bored after scanning 3 pages of anything watching that light go Bzzzzt...bzzzzt....

Locating a copy is not main question. Topicstarter, well, started that topic to inform he have one, for example (and even wasted a second copy he own by sending it to GOG, hoping they will include a pdf in package). Scanning not a huge problem also. Problem is what to to with scans later, as distrubuting them will be a piracy. So, suppose Paul or other people scanned it, whats next?
Edit: didnt noticed first what the whole update is actually about the same story of GOG Strategy Guide, mentioned here at very start of topic.

If it comes to it I can ask either Ian Currie and/or Rob Sirotek about the status of the guide. And some sort of permission - if they can give it - to distribute it.

Maybe they have some JA1 sourcecode avaiable to spare also, assuming they are kind and reachable persons? Would be way easier to read it that way too.

Alot of people would be happy to have that, in book or digitzed form, if someone could have the patience to scan it then get permission to distribute it would make alot of long time fans day

We got JA2 source code because at a certain point the owner of the IP rights decided to share it publicly (and boost sales of JA2 Gold edition) aka Strategy First.
Meanwhile the IP rights were sold on and now the holder is Nordic THQ, which appears keen on making a profit on them. So don't hold your breath.

Well that guide was a separate book only sold in US retail stores. Guess who was lucky enough to get it then... has it.
