I created 4 identical IMPs with only difference being background. Athlete, wrestler, daredevil & stalker. I tested them in bunch of different ways but one that surprised me was that the Stalker IMP can move twice as far in turn based mode compared to others two move all half of the distance that Stalker can.
I am usinng the latest unstable 1.13 version where they transferred grenade buffs from Demolition skill to Throwing. I also
use latest Wildfire maps and thats all, no crazy mods and mostly default INI settings.
EDIT: Did more testing, athlete now runs twice as far too. Stalker with athletic trait (not to be confused with athlete background) runs far shorter distance than stalker + bodybuilder.
The game is unplayable, every fight gets stuck in creatures turn forever. Game keep crashing with the object 920 error. NPC hit sounds keep looping forever in strategic screen, yesterday I got 2 IMPs from single IMP character creation, the bugged second IMP had no name and lower stats but looked identical, I love this game but this is like pre-alpha or Cyberpunk 2077.

The grenade/throwing move is totally unrelated to movement speed or AP cost for movement, it only moves bonus related grenade throwing from demolition-trait to throwing-trait
athletic trait hasn't been changed in ages
Don't know what to make of object 920 error, hard to say anything about it without a save. might be related to your use of WF, a faulty instal or whatever. No way to say with that little information you choose to provide
Same for the issue you claim to have with creature turns. Might be due to WF-maps and their placement of creatures, or something entierly different. No dice to say without more information provided from your side

As can be seen, "stalker" is the only one out of those 4 that has no agility-bonus, but it has a bonus to AP when in urban sector (same for "daredevil", but that's less high), so you may recognize that AP bonus
Factors like weight of gear, type of terrain, current energy, etc also play a hand in this. Again, hard to provide a helpfull answer whith so little information provided

But, rejoice, the backgrounds will soon see an overhaul, discussion on them has already started a few month ago
If you don't like the current ones, you can either wait until that is done or edit backgrounds.xml yourself (a texteditor will do)

Other aspect are discussed as well, like revisting the ini-descriptions, some item/weapon values, and so on and on ...
It's a vast field and only a handfull, or less, people working on it.
Providing feedback is good, but to make it more usefull,
consider to provide a save, description of situation, ini-settings, etc - the whole scenario
this would be helpfull to find out what's happening on your side and may provide a solution

I saw the change with grenade throwing. What changed? I suggested to change it 2 years ago and I got a big NOPE. It is actually vanilla, someone made a balance decision to make demolition more useful despite it makes no sense and it made throwing obsolete.
I would like to raise my voice about balance, but if it is discord only I guess I pass...
