Entering complex the stealthy way

Having never done it, does anyone know what happens if you enter the missile complex through the power station ventilator when the alarm goes off and the fan deactivates? I assume that the resistance underground is lighter. I prefer to clear the sector and take out the fan with a LAWS, cause I love underground fights with G11, P90 and CAWS.

Tex or John?

Does anybody know what determines if you meet Tex or John. Do you have to be in Varrez before day 5 or so to meet Tex or is it really random.

My first few tries I met Tex every time, didn't even know john could be in the game as well, now I online get John.

Another UB with no guide

I'm totally new to the JA series and don't have a guide. What do the stats Strength, Wisdom, Dex etc. do for you. Which ones are tied to accuracy, Action Pts., etc.

Also, I just had my first merc gain a level but I can't see any difference in his stats. What gives?

Umm .. well after playing JA2 for the 4th time round and this time with Deidranne lives installed I guess i'm already pretty biased towards picking it up.

BUT .. (big but) I have been reading some really bad reviews of UB and i just wanted to know from those of you in this forum who have played it what exactly you like & hate about it.

Help, problem in Bearpit 1 campaign :(

I am playing the JA:UB Bearpit 1 campaign and I conquered map P-10, then took over O-10. Now theres a question mark in P-10 meaning enemies have moved into the sector. No big deal right?

Here is my problem, when I try to advance from O-10 to P-10 the game gives me NO OPTION to place my mercs!! Selecting "spread" doesnt help Sad At this point, as I am sure you all know, I am stuck,and have to alt-tab out and quit JA:UB.

Unfortunately all my mercs are in O-10 so I am stuck here Sad I am going to try to hire someone and have them clear it solo I guess.

Any ideas are appreciated Sad

Isometric Grid

Does anyone know of the physical size the grid is based on?

I need to know what each Isometric 'square' is in pixels, so that I can make up a grid, in layer form, will make it easier (for me) to make new tiles/sets that conform to a standard size.

Miscellaneous Items

I need to know if there is any use for the following:


3 Syringes (I know one is needed to fill with elixir but why three?)

wine (some special signifigance in the father walker quest or will any alchohol do?)

beer

porn

golf clubs

remote control (I seem to remember this doing something but don't think it was that important. I'm not talking about the robot remote, or the remote bomb trigger)

cigars

two (now three) t-shirts

My memory also needs to be refreshed as to the exact usage of:

walkman

portable tv

silver platter

lameboy

fumble pack

etc.


Any information you might have on these items please post here. I'd like to replace any uneccessary items and rename others to more 1940s applications.

Oh, I also need to know how many keys are necessary to open all locks. Vanilla Ja2 uses something like 15 but I currently am only using 8. I'd hate to have some locks be unusable by npcs because I don't have the necessary key available in the game.

Ray, Olga, etc.

In Dedrianna Lives, Batman was able to bring these two charactersinto the game. I tried in a map and it keeps crashing after they tell you their dialouge. I was wondering if anyone had come up with any creative ideas (and actually tested them) for bringing these two into the game.

There are a lot of unused characters throughout Proedit. I have no idea - for instance - who Jim is? He appears on a lot of maps when you look in the Beta Editor but I've never met him.
I think it would be worth exploring which characters are useable and how so we can add more dimention to mods.

Any ideas or discoveries please post here.

Arrived at this during experimenting with pics for a portuary map in RR.No problem in integrating that monstrous ship, or changing the STI image so far.(it's still an unfinished thing)
But setting the coordinates for the images or building a corresponding JSD for that...is beyond my capabilities.And The Scorpion is already overwhelmed with ...whatevever devilish things he's doing.
Any advice, tutorial,tool,out there?
