Hello All

Tbird

Now that you have pointed out the problems with shotguns having high power scopes, what would be your perference of.
1) Only allow shotguns to utilize the low power scopes (2x, 1-3x, CTR) or
2) Make up two new scopes that only fit shotguns, and have much less range bonus than the equivilent power rifle scopes. Say for example the leopuld 1-4x and 2-7x shotgun scopes.
Option two would be better if I could get someone to make me some new graphics, but I'd be happy to just use the existing CRT and Leopuld scopes STI files for these two proposed scopes.
Either way, I think the gun barrel extender is going, I think I'll look at turning it into a improvised silencer instead.

Hungry Joe, what is a M4SD, is it just the M4A1 SOPMOD with a silencer? If so the M4A1 is already in there, you just need to attach an AR suppresor to it, as the SOPMOD is AFAIK just a M4A1 with extra accessory rails.

Greymarcus, well caught, will fix AK-74M accurracy.

well..am of the opinion..the sighting etc from vanilla and or dbb-mob was quite good as it was..alot mroe balanced..i do like your lbe changes alot though and feel you should submit some of yer ideas to standard 1.13 team..heavens know they could use another source of good ideas..and your additions of vog grenade types are a nice bonus...as for the rod&spring and gun barrel extender..those are silly little quirks that have been in ja since ferever and i feel they should remain in any and all mod's just to have that quirky link to originality...just my humble opinion..regardless..other than your changes to scopes and gun ranges..i find the rest of your mod to be very nice

Basicly yes.
The contents of the DBB folder go into the matching folders inside of Data 1.13
eg copy the contents of the DBB/tabledata to Data 1.13/tabledata.
Remember to make copies of your original Tabledata, Bigitems, Interface, and Tileset folders first though, in case you want to revert to the basic 1.13!

Hi Possum-

I just spent a while googling the M4SD, and now I'm not so convinced it's a real assault rifle. I guess it exists in video games and airsoft, but I'm not finding a lot of mention of it in terms of SOPMOD Blocks I or II. It's essentially an M4 with integral suppressor. I did find this gallery showing one variant:
http://demigodllc.com/photo/SRECCE/

The version I've seen more often is more of a CQB gun. It's a neat item.

I'd like to weigh in on the gun barrel extenders and rod and spring additions. Those have always struck me wrong, and as the game's equipment and mods become more and more realistic, it doesn't make sense for these old-school upgrades to stay in. I can see Tbird's legacy argument, but to me the mercs are more representative of the JA2 legacy than the items.

By the way, your modifications to weapon range and scope effect are a lot of fun for me. Maybe it's just the way I play, but these changes have brought assault rifles back into the game for me.

I got a CTD when I tried to combine GPMG M60 agility upgrade kit to a M60. Couldn't reproduce it though...

Question, what does the SEAL Recon upgrade kit do? I can't seem to add it to any of my guns.

I just managed to merge it with a M60E3 without any problems.

Merge it with an M4A1.

Sorry, more newbie questions..

What advantage does EBR Stock and the JAE-100 tactical stock give the M14? They only seem to decrease its accuracy by 1 in game. So I'm a bit confused.

Also I get a fatal error when trying to open the XML editor with this mod installed. Is there any other way to view the gun/item/etc values ?

I believe the EBR and JAE-100 should also decrease the cost to raise the weapon, which is what adding folding and collapsible stocks and the like to guns normally do in this game.

PossumDBB doesn't appear to work with the XML Editor (yet?). You're stuck opening up the xml files in Explorer or some other browser (if you just want to view the data) or a text editor (if you want to muck around with the values).

Alternately, DBC over in the DBB-MOD 9xx thread has produced a version of DBB 9.05 here that is XML Editor compatible (but which won't have Oldpossum's numerous changes).

Using them on an M14 allows it to use most of the modern accessories (like the newer scopes and laser sights).

I don't have experience at all with the editor so I can't help you with this one, sorry.

Yes, I have another coming soon (TM), no major changes that will require a restart so far.
But I'd like people to report any other things they think are suspect (like the JAE stock accuracy thing mentioned above), also for the people who have had problems opening my mod with the XLS editor, has making sure that the lookup table folder is properly installed, fixed the problem?

New things to look foward to are, you can now fire .38 special from the six shot .357 revolvers, and said revolvers will now only accept a silencer when loaded with .38 special ammo.
Also I have changed the way that the leg amour and cammo pants work, now you wear the cammo pants, and the leg armour is attached to the cammo pants, but you can still wear the leg armour as a stand alone if desired. I have also added in the 40mm grenade panel to the modular thigh rig system, but only combinatons at present are 40mm + document, and 40mm + utility rigs.
The CIRAS vest how has GP magazeen pouches and DP pistol/40mm Grenade pouches as it seem way too expensive for what it originally had, and I found I was just not using it.
Lots of modified graphics for ammo crates, and a few others, such as Tex's custom pistols. (I've made the colour bands on crates much larger, and standardized the colours better.)

Looking forward to the new version, Oldpossum!

As for possible bugs, does the Boys .55 have a valid ammotype associated with it? I seem to recall that early on in my last game a few were dropped and they all ejected NADA items.

Hello reVurt

Yes that problem has been fixed, as it was simply that the AT ammo type used by the boys was not checked as standard issue, so what you were seeing were defauld "ghost" ball ammo clips.

I've also just discovered problems with the G36 series, so they are now all fixed, and the G36 grip/optics and G36 rail kits are now back in ( I had not noticed they had been removed in the DBB mod previously, strange that they had been.), as well as a MG36 Tactical version.

Hi Oldpossum,

I like your mod but I cannot seem to get 5.56 m193 ammo weapons to add to imp creation. I have had same problems with DBC's mod regarding these new ammo types and their weapons. Also Ira, Dimitri and Carlos have no weapon when starting. Miguel does though.

I took a clean install JA2 1.12, 1.13 2085, exchanged exe with 2124, then applied your 903, then 3a patch. Is this correct?

Thanks for any advice.

Hello medicinman.

Ahhhh, Not Standard Issue Ammo strikes again!

The problem is that the m193 ammo type (inferior FMJ) is not flagged as a standard ammo type, so it will not show up as part of a starting character's equipment, nor will any weapon that is currently chambering that ammo. The easy fix, if you have the XML editor working, is to go in and simply tick the Standard Issue Ammuntion checkbox, for the Inferior FMJ bullet type (FMJ*), alternativey, now I know about this bug, I'll have it fixed in the upcoming update of my mod.

Concerning Ira, Dimitri, and Carlos, I am at a lose as to why they still won't show up with their rifles, I guess I'll just have to give them back their original pistols then, but first I'll try puting the rifle in a big slot rather than their hands, and see if that works.

And yes, thay installation sequence in correct.

Hi Possum-

Glad to hear the updates are still coming. I think I found some missing ammo the other day, but maybe I'm looking for the wrong stuff. The so-called "Whisper Kitty" silent assualt rifle used special .300 Whisper ammo, I thought. I can't find any in the game or in the XML editor. Does it use something else? .300 WSM maybe?

Hello All

Version 4 is up at eSnips, link is in the very first post.

Notable changes( in addition to what I've wrote about previously) are:
The addition of the DBB905 guns,
The national uniforms that were LBE are now armors (A DBB905 change),
Namechange of 7.62x37 to .300 Whisper,
Whisper Kitty now uses 20 round clips,
The Russian 23G vest now carries up to 10 VOG-25 grenades,
And 5 new bling comprising, a Map of Alruco, iRiver H10 5GB (which incidently by the merging of, with copper wire, will make a remote detonator), eTrek Handheld GPS, a Lensatic Compass, and just because there is not a surfite of meelee weapons, an entrenching tool!

Thanks for the update, looks great so far!

One word of warning to those upgrading a running game from version 3, however: If some of your mercs are wearing national armor style LBEs, take them off before running the upgraded version.

It took me a while to debug, but Igor wearing the Spetznaz vest LBE in Possum v3a caused a Crash-To-Desktop in v4 any time I tried to bring up his inventory. It looks like the vest is now considered armor, and the game did not deal well with it carrying items and in the LBE slot.

Hi,

I tried to install the new possum mod 905. svn version 1029. then i tried to start a test game. I couldnt choose the new inventory system. I took awesome choice at BR. Then i got Drassen airfield. At BR i couldnt get so much as i thought. A few month ago i played the dbb mod, there the choice at BR was much bigger if i remember right. Has anyone an idea, what i did wrong?

I don't know.

If you didn't choose the new inventory system, there will be less items at BR, but it shouldn't be a lot less. Did you choose "Tons of Guns" when you started the game? Also, did you wait until 11am the next day for BR's store to refresh? I don't think that that would make a difference with BR set to "Awesome", but it might.

My installation:

ja2
1.13 (via svn 1029)
then COS_904_Full.exe
COS_904_Patch.exe

but something must be wrong, like i wrote above. Anyone an idea what i did wrong?

Maybe there is a problem with the SVN 1029 build. I would suggest you grab either the older official release from the JA2 wiki, or the latest One-Click Installer and try again. I have had success with both.

Also, while Oldpossum's mod is based off of COSPlay/DBB, it is a little different and doesn't need that you install COS_904_Full.exe or COS_905_Patch.exe first. If you're not using PossumDBB Mod at all, you might have better luck posting in the other thread for the COSPlay/DBB mod itself.

If you are using PossumDBB, then your install should be simple:

JA2
1.13 (via version on JA2 wiki or One-Click Installer)
PossumDBB mod

Mod works nice now. 2 things I noticed that I am not sure of.

San Mona now shows a "5% town loyalty" in red and the townspeople say things like we don't feel safe with you. No one attacks and kingpin isn't hostile. I did not attack anyone, and no battles took place in town. Never seen this before.

2nd I am unable to sell certain WW2 vintage rifles and such to Tony. Is this part of your mod.

I am using possum4 and also enhanced description exe

Thanks

Hello all.

Update 4A is now up.

Please note that this is not a complete download, if you have not installed my mod before, you will need to also download the full v4.

New features are.
3 new ammo types for 9x21mm, Sp-11 to 13 respectivly are Match FMJ, APT, and JHP
Added tracer ammo for 9x19mm and 7.62 Tokarov from basic game back in.
Added Hollow point for 7.62 Tokarov from basic game back in.
Added in a new Spoftpoint Big game hunting ammo for 7.62x54R (+5 to hit, +100 m range, splats bloodcats nicely.)
Added in a new softpoint .223 Remingon hunting round (+5 to hit, +50 m range)
Added in a .458 SOCOM FMJ round.
Added a new ammo type, 7.62x25mm M48, basicly a "hot" loaded Tokarov round, usable only by the Cz-52 pistol. comes in KTW and BHP flavors.
Cz-52 pistol added to the dual caliber weapons, will now fire either regular Tokarov, or the new hot round; Simply attempt to load either a 8 round clip, or a bulk ammo container to flip between ammo types. Note defauld is the Hot ammo version.
Extended flipping between ammo types for the 6 shot .357 magnums, to also now use the bulk ammo containers, so you no longer have to worry about hanging onto a .38 special to generate speedloaders!
Added in a 3rd type of dual caliber weapons, those that can fire both .223 remingoton and 5.56 NATO.
So far this is limited to the Mini-14 and variants, and the AR-18 and variant; Again fliping between ammo type is accomplished by attempting to load either a 30 round clip or a bulk ammo contianer. I'm open to sugestion as for what other weapons should also are capable of usefully running on both ammo types.

Extended the aplication of the HK-416 kits to also include the M4 and M4A1, but using on an M4/M4A1 is irriversible; There is also now a HK-416 20" kit.
Added in conversion kits for converting an M4/M4A1 into the .458 SOCOM monster and the HK M468.
Cleaned up and standardized the conversion and upgrade kit names and descriptions, descriptions now tell you what guns they work on.
Fixed the caliber of the Czech Skorpion v.61 SMG, it now runs on .32 ACP, thus finally adding in a .32 ACP SMG and making the v.61 fire the correct calibre.
