And increase mining costs so that passive strategy works? No thanks. The whole idea is to try to make the player have aggressive strategy.

Riiccia, I wonder if we could calculate a value for drop all being off. For example, if you get 1/3 the equipment, maybe you could triple selling price to compensate? I'm not sure how to calculate the proportion of equipment not dropped with drop all off. I like the intention of your idea, but I don't like drop all.

i really don't know, where you get that from - the basic idea is to win that war, with whatever strategy is working

I'm pretty sure he's talking about a game design perspective, not an "art of war" perspective. I think his premise (which I agree with) is that game options that promote aggressive/expansive tactics instead of passive/castle/"sim base" tactics are good, so he's trying to find financial options that support his premise. If you only gain money from equipment, you have to keep fighting to stay afloat financially.

Correction: With his idea you still gain some money with mines, but theoretically it isn't enough to support a very large operation.

that would be HIS style of play, and surely not the sole/one and only way to do it

... btw, what on earth are 'mining costs' supossed to be, game-wise?

Of course; he said nothing to the contrary. He was asking about how he could modify his game, after all. One could just as easily create an opposite style by cranking up the mine income. You could then sit on Drassen until you had 24+ Level 9 mercs, then storm Meduna with your army of super soldiers.

Well, he clearly meant "mine income" instead of "mining costs". If you're asking how they get money from their mines... I have no idea. The miners' stories aren't memorable to me, except for Dynamo's brother. I recall my wife being slightly startled by that guy's detail about the queen's men raping Dynamo's wife in front of him.

of course he can do what he wants with his game, but he does not need to tell anyone what the games' intent is; same as i do not tell anyone that i consider selling the loot to the mob (=locals) a cheat and a blunder. what would you think if the us army 'sold the loot to the locals' in iraq?

yes i figured that about 'costs' out; what i want to say with it, is if you are going to issue 'eternal truth'-statements like ...

Riiccia

... you better watch your words

make it 'my whole idea' and i don't even respond to this statement, let alone get 'agressive'.

Factionalise the head miners. Piss off a faction lose a mine. Simples.

Example: Fred Rebels. Calvin Hicks. Carl SmaCo. Matt Junkyard (or whatever you've set Dynamo to). Oswald Kingpin.

Don't bother selling anything. Dropping the mine income certainly works. Give money or items away; there's lots of poor & needy there. Throw items away. Throw cash away. There's tons of ways you can play at break even only.

Personally once I've captured three mines I don't worry about income (and that's using the low income "hard times" exe).

By "whole idea" I meant everything I've said in this post, not eternal truth.

Why do I bother posting all this? Because it is an idea, I hope to improve it by getting feedback. And perhaps, if someone is interested, I can save him valuable playing hours by telling what is a good balance between mine income and selling (IN MY OPINION!). If you are not interested, then you don't have to read about it. IN MY OPINION, after I turned 15, I didn't find it anymore amusing to sit in Drassen and "max your mercs". THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION, I am sorry if it insults someone and I am willing to change it if it does.

Carry on, Riiccia. I find many of your ideas amusing and will apply them to my game.

What i've been doing in my current game is only selling the armor in my current game. Then I haul the guns to tony. He only buys a certain amount and then he won't buy any more. Seems to help the balance. I also only train while my mechanics are fixing stuff or my doctors are healing someone. You don't have to sit there training your troops. That's what is great about this game- you can play however you want to.

In case anyone reads this, I've found the sweet spot to be:
- Experienced
- 25 % sell items cost
- 20 % mine income

Done two hardcore runs like this (and many failed ones) and trying it out on expert now. Depends a lot on your team though how much money you are used to spend.

Any ideas how to adjust difficulty regarding enemy vision? After getting scopes on weapons, 1.13 turns into this "enemy runs towards you, you shoot him before they even notice".
