Ok, this is really weird. Just started playing JA2 about 3 days ago, I'm floored, I absolutely love the game.

One problem, I just went in to take Alma Mine. It was extremely difficult, I was way outmatched but by fighting at night and just waiting for them to walk into illuminated areas i was able to win... however...

I didn't really win becuase it STILL says the area is hostile, I've searched up and down, inside every little house, on rooftops, in the woods and I cannot find this supposed "last guy". Could it be a bug? I also left and then came back 8 hours later when it was light out, to find ONE guy, killed him, and then the area was hostile again. Very strange.

Another question is, it's not remaining hostile because there are guys "in alma" (the other squares on the overmap), is it? Or could it be that there's bad guys in the mine? Would that not finish the mission either?

PS: Just realized that I was playing the 1.10 version of JA2 Gold, I downloaded the 1.12 patch and installed it but so far see no difference... perhaps, if it was a 1.10 issue, it saved it messed up and now i'm screwed out of 40 hours of gameplay (or the alma mine) unless any of you have any ideas.

I've ran into that problem several times playing Wildfire.

To solve it, I ended up leaving the sector, coming right back, killing one baddie and then it was clear.

Grab all your mercs,put stealth mode off and run like crazy in pairs.Each pair facing one direction of the sector(It can be 1 merc for each direction,depends if you have just a few mercs).Probably the enemy will hear a loud noise of a pair(merc) running like crazy.

If it does not work,try what was said above.Exit the map and return.If it does not work,pick a save right before the battle and do the battle again.

Alma mine? Check on that little triangle of land on the wrong side of the fence to the north.

Location: Far far away.
Also check the last building to the North (a locked booze shop) as there is often one lone bad guy cowering in there.

I just cut a hole in the fence in the first time I get there. If you do that at night then you will need backup as mostly there's 3 or 4 guys behind that fence when I play that sector.

My sure-fire way to find an enemy when I have no patience:

1. save your game
2. hold control and type "gabbi" (yes, it activates cheats)
3. press Alt+E

This'll reveal all enemies (all entities?) on the map. When you know where the enemy is, reload and run your squad to that location.

Not exactly the nicest way to do it, but like I said, sometimes I have no patience.

I blow the fence it is the better solution.

1) merc a illuminates the fence
2) merc b throws a grenate into the illuminated fence
3) merc c-f waiting for the carnage to come

My experience also show that Alma's troops are ways better than they are supposed to be.

I run 113 though.
