That's ridiculous unless your uploading from a dial up connection. When I uploaded those 3 parts for the minus thread to esnips it took maybe 20 mins tops for the biggest file, which at the time was around 85 meg. So it took me a half hour to 45 mins to get it all up and posted.

My ISP has been playing silly buggers with my connection. Also uploaded only to find esnips doesn't accept exe files.
THEY COULD'VE TOLD ME THAT TO BLOODY BEGIN WITH :dontlike:

Now re-uploading as a 2 part RAR file, so if anyone wants it and doesn't have winrar then tough beans.

EXE files alone will not go anywhere. They have to be put in a sub-folder then uploaded. Anyway I use 7zip for it's great compression feature.

Mine are 7Zip self extractors! I put them in a rar file now. Thing is with zip and rar they limit you to only 50mb whereas the download is about 93 mb in Ultra compressed 7Zip.

Typing a new ID number in the box and then pressing enter key changes the number without checking if there is already something on that number, and breaks the former item if there is.

Normally it does not, I used the XML-Editor in this capacity on Monday on 4 items that were duplicated and then shifted.
Only one made problems.

Of course, I always swap my new items with 'Nothing'-items, and then delete the 'Nothing'-item when it appears at the end of the list, so I would not know whether it is broken (can you even /break/ a 'Nothing'-item?).

I already alerted Mugsy to the fact that the swapping works less than perfect, including that unhandled exception Wink

EDIT: Leaving the swapped item in place, saving and exiting the editor, then restarting and /only then/ deleting the item circumvents the exception error.

Are you using the enter key? Because the 'apply' and 'OK' buttons work as intended, but pressing enter does not.

Also, its the item you're attemting to move that breaks, not the slot you intend to move it to.

I never use the 'Enter'-key, I always use the buttons (Apply first, then OK).

As I already wrote, that happened to me only for 1 item out of 4.

not a bad policy, but the enter key pretending to work but breaking things instead is still a problem.

I'm not sure how much was really broken, or how much was just screwed up readouts resulting from the enter key bypasing the 'swap items' logic.

Try this: delete the *.xsd file in your ja2 root directory. Then start the editor again.
Worked for me. And I had similar error a while ago.

Thanks Sphinx that fixed it, and Starwalker, the crash was while building item table(startup of the editor, not while loading a file).

I read in the other thread you put Net Frame 2.0 on. It is a good idea to go ahead and put Net Frame 3 on also. Normally it is best to put all 3 on, 1,2 and 3, but if you didn't put 1 on before putting 2 on then I would not bother with 1.

I have all 3 net frames installed and have no problems with running the xml editor. And don't worry about some of those red exclamations. The game will still work. It's the yellow conflicted triangles you need to worry about if you get one.

Did you try to update modded files from SVN? If anything is conflicted, the tags that SVN adds confuses the crap out of the editor.

Unfortunately the error-message does not state which xml was read at that time.

Under item# 812 in items.xml, the line Tw. Vest is 9469.
Or index# 1066 in weapons.xml, there line 2 is 9469.

It could also be in other xml-files that are big enough to have that many lines (MercStartingGear.xml for example).

I suggest you'd get Notepadd++ to edit XMLs manually, it shows line-numbers Wink

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but it is annoying that the editor likes to reduce all the columns to just a few pixels wide when I close a dialog box.

Is there any function to expand them that's easier than resizing every column by hand?

The XML-editor does not like added pocket definitions in pockets.xml, even if there are items that point to the new entries (editor laments about child/parent key violations, although I made sure everything is correct) Sad

I have three new LBE-items ready for inclusion, but due to that editor-problem, I cannot upload them because they'd stop the editor from starting....

Additionally, I have the same problem Hutton describes.

Starwalker, Have you added in the the appropriate names in the look up files?

Because I have created several new pocket types using the currently avaliable XML Editor packed with the stable V1.13 2085 release, and I have had no problems at all!

I've made a new Large Medical bag, Large Toolbag, Mortar bomb pocket, and a Scope Pocket, all compleat with new silhouettes, and I've added these pockets to new LBG, or modified the incompleate medical LBG, and have been sucessfully using the new & modified items in my current game.

All the editing work, apart from adding in new pocket names, silhouette names, and creating and adding the silhouettes to the STI file, was done using the XML editor.

I thought you know about this... It was clearly stated in our DBB Mod 9.xx discussion when I mentioned the XML editor bug... Silhouette.xml in TableData\Lookup is a must do step if adding any LBE pockets, and that's what I specifically stated and addressed in my DBB 9.xx fixes.

First: I do not play DBB. So I do not read that thread too thoroughly.

Second: I still do so much manually (and it works!) that I often forget what the XML-editor needs.

Giving names to the new silhouettes in silhouettes.xml helped Smile

I just spent the last two days setting up a new game, 1.12gold, SVN, some of azael's, fun maps, Then I clicked on the xml editor and changed some loadouts. game runs just fine on OLD INVENTORY but fails on new inventory. 36 hours shot to hell. Hey folks I'm a stuped NOOOB! I am trying to learn by using the tools provided but please stop releasing unproven buggy unusable undocumented "tools".

on a personal note, thank you for at least giving us players a choice of using old or new (crap) inventory.

I fixed it. just delete the whole table tata and reload from svn. good as new minus 36 hours of customizing. maybe i'll try again next year.

Thank you for being the voice of reason. If I could describe the problem i could probably find a workaround. All I know is the game ran fine on old inventory but ctd when I attempted to hire anyone playing new inventory. If they put tools out for people to use they could at least put out a notice explaining which parts have problems so idiots like me could avoid those areas. thanks for your concern.

You did have a look at the 'Modding the New Inventory'-thread?

And Marlboro Man is right, you should be more specific (about /what/ you changed), if you really want help.

does anyone know what this means;

failed to enable constraints. foreign key constraint 2 child key values 24 + 25

fatal error

Brand new svn install wf6.06 played until day 4 with only minor glitches can't make one simple change without reprogramming the whole f*kin computer!

Please check what silhouette.xml in the lookup-folder looks like. If it has no entries at index 24 and 25, then download it from the SVN-Server again. Sometimes the XML-Editor mangles it.

If that does not work at first, then it will get a bit more complicated, but we should be able to get it to work Smile

Hmmmmm Sad

I had implemented the LRAK-vest and two new medical pouches, which needed two new silhouettes.
The XML-Editor might get confused by this (although I have no idea why or how) and delete some entries.

There should be references to silhouettes 24 and 25 in pockets.xml at indices 20 and 21.

Those indices 20 and 21 should be seen as pocket indicators of indices 35 and 36 in LoadBearingEquipment.xml.

The numbers 35 and 36 should be seen as ubClassIndex of items 1204 and 1205 in items.xml.

So please check these three XML-files whether or not the relevant entries are there.

Well now you can have your big laugh, i just spent two hours trying to follow your instructions, 560 pages line by line in one file alone, all out of order with no coherent formula to help identify which is which. It's all Greek to me. I will try to email the files to you if it will help but i believe if it's a bad program many other people will soon be complaining and will be able to implement a fix. otherwise i am going to treat this as a bad install and erase and reload all suspect files. thanks anyway.
