I have just finished taking over the town and made my way over to the mine, have got Biggins on side but now i have a problem. In all the areas i have cleared i have found 3 9mm clips and 2 5.56mm clips. I am using weapons i have stolen in rotation but the ammo situation is now critical. I am down to 3 people who still have ammo and no idea where to get more. Bobby ray is gone, the chinese lady doesn't sell ammo, grunts are not dropping ammo and seem to only drop the odd gun or lots of stun grenades, buildings seem only to have money or canteens and small items.

Where do i get ammo from or am i gonna be forced to start asking the bad guys to stand still while i club them to death????

I'm playing a realistic game with standard settings on novice at the moment as it's my first play through.

Please help, i'm kinda getting a little frustrated.

Thanks for the quick reply.

The only people i have found i can talk to at the moment are the two people in the chinese ladies shop and Biggins. Is the building marked in any way? do you remember which grid ref of the town it is? I have searched all buildings so far including the one with the bloodcats in and all crates so far have been empty and all the people simply tell me i'm not welcome. I have robbed all the cash so maybe they dont like me because of that?

I have also searched high and low for a guide to this game and can only find patusco's brilliant JA2 one but this does not help for UB. Do you know if there is a guide which is still actively available and not on one of those pay per file sites?

Due south of Varrez is an isolated building in the woods... there is ammo there I am sure but it is guarded and the rear of the building is heavily mined.

Huge thanks for that, was starting to wonder if maybe i should have used the tons of guns option. I too am at work at the moment but i'll be sure to go there when i get home and see if i can stock up. I miss not having my sniper rifles available. I never was very good at CQB.

Oh yes, he was kind enough to be taking a leak in the other direction when my lady sneaked up behind him and climbed on the roof. A few quick slaps from the commando and he was giving up his armour and gun quick smart. His friends were less than impressed when they popped up on the roof to share a quick ciggy and found my pretty lady waiting for them. I managed to get two of the regular grunts by simply firing shots off into the air and waiting for them to come say hi.

Must be really annoying to spend AP climbing on the roof only to be head popped back down to the ground! Smile

I did get bought back to earth when i climbed down from there and walked to the pond, a hidden grunt thought it would be a really fun idea to drop a LAW on her at almost point blank range.
She didn't even get a chance to shout the obligatory "MEDIC!!!!!, man down!"

I'm sure my next step is supposed to be inside the mine as that's where biggins was and he is obviously guarding something but the game is a little vague as to where i'm meant to be going next other than saying i have to find the missiles.

The bug lair in JA2 left my friend Fidel dead and Ira with agrophobia, i fear the darkness now.

I miss his happy " These chickens cannot hide from fidel " comments. Sigh....

Raul is the resident arms dealer in Tracona. If you shoot him (to steal the Barrett sniper rifle), he will blow himself up, unless you kill him in one headshot. If you manage to kill him in one shot, all the items he carries are trapped (individually), and will explode if touched, unless you have a merc with very good exp. skill to disarm each and every item separately.

I found him thanks to your advice, i'd been in the store but had missed him on the other side of the boxes, and decided to be friendly on the grounds he's my only current source of ammo. I gave him the cannon to get the barrett at low cost and all was well. The barrett is a nasty piece of kit but ammo is a bit steep. thankfully he had a lot of mods like bipods etc so i stocked up and it made a hell of a difference to my sniper team. They are a mean bunch now!

Might shoot him for fun once the game is effectively beat as his attitude and voice are annoying but for now he's my ammo source.

Wow, how short is unfinished business? More like unfinished war!

I managed to complete the entire game in one day of play. It was my first play through too. I had 9 mercs, 5 heavy gunners and 4 snipers. Seemed like i was cutting through them like butter, the hardest part of the whole mission was getting past the mined corridor but this was just a matter or timing and training up Fidel to spot all the mines.

Anyway, have upgraded to 1.13 and am amazed at the difference. Quite hard to get the hang of but damn i'm impressed so far. It's much harder to hit people and seems much fairer in most aspects of play. Tactics have been reviewed several times since i started it.

yup the original UB campaign is tiny but it's a good platform for some nice little mods like SOG'69.

Sog 69 is next on my list after i do 1.13. Wanted to try the same game but upgraded first. Glad to find it's still the full game too. UB was a lot of fun but i was very disappointed that mortars and other weapons are rendered redundant by the amount of tunnel crawling involved in the game. The whole game took around 12 hours in total and i'm glad it was a free addition to my original game. One barrett and 3 minimi's was all i needed in the end.

Tonight i'm hoping to have some fun with an unmodded Dressen counterattack to test my mercs to the full. Should be quite a laugh to find out how well i play without cheating or making it easier in any way.

bad idea to go in bug lair with little or no ammo. conserve ur ammo. dont go berserk and just dry up ur mags with burst or auto. if an enemy drops gun use that or take the mag out of it if urs is better and can use same ammo. cover is essential and stay close to furniture, rocks and walls and be sure to aim highest u can but save at least 5-10 AP so u have time to cover. this method will conserve ur ammo and in time, ull have more of it. bobby ray mite b gone coz the airports got taken by enemies.
