Hello everyone,

I'm trying to get JA2 to work in windowed mode because I'm using a wide screen monitor which stretches the game a little making it less attractive.
But when I start the game in windowed mode I get this error "Jagged Alliance 2 v113 windowed mode requires a color depth of 16bpp or less".
I have no clue on how to decrease the color depth when only playing this game.
Does anyone know of a solution?

I'm using Windows 7, graphic card ATI Radeon 4890 with screen resolution 1920x1080 landscape, 32bpp.

Thanks

Never mind this.
I found a lovely thing called "profiles" in the ATI Control Center.
Just needed to create the settings which enables the game to function in windowed mode (setting color depth to 16bpp), then create the profile including a link to the .bat to start the game and letting the profile manager create an icon to activate the profile.
So with a dbl click on the icon, the screen settings are changed and the game is started.

A little late to this game but...you can solve this problem by editing the following section in the JA.ini file:

;**********************************************************************************************************
; Select windowed or full screen mode?
; 0 ... Full Screen
; 1 ... Windowed Mode
; If you like to play in Windowed Mode, you have to switch your Dektop to 16 Bit!
;**********************************************************************************************************
SCREEN_MODE_WINDOWED=0

Change the value above to 0 for full screen play. I did this and it got rid of the "...16bpp..." error message.

However, after choosing a language (English) and Mod (used the default BecomingX), and clicking on Start (all on the opening screen), I now get another pop-up error message:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
File : ..\src\Core\vfs_file_raii.cpp
Line : 36
Location : vfs::COpenReadFile::COpenReadFile

and

File : ..\src\Core\vfs_file_raii.cpp
Line : 32
Location : vfs::COpenreafFile::COpenReadFile

Could not open file: Data-UB\VFS\Addons\vfs_config.addon_Campaign_Becomingx.ini
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can anyone explain this? What to do now? :dontknow2: Thanks.
