They are maps from my mod JA2 1.13INSANE which I am building for players who like to play at the insane level.

The map set is in ALPHA stages of completion but are playable.

They can be played at any setting. I have decided to offer them now because I am running out of inspiration and hope to get some inspiring feedback.

In that case the tilesets and the corresponding JA2set.dat should be offered in conjunction with the maps.

Yes, in my case crash again in B8 lloking for some tileset from group 8, so the best way is to wait Oldnooob to upload his tilesets.

Star, please ask him to upload also the JA2SET.dat for those tilesets - cause if I do I'll eat his heart first. Smile

It's not that me or Kriplo can't waste an hour using TSE. But I'd rather spend that hour trying to figure out what the idea in those maps is, to avoid standing in its way. Or polishing a map. Or simply remodeling the terrain so that textures in a certain map won't scratch my poor brain. Or replaying JA2, delighted again.

The set.dat is in the maps folder along with two readme files, cities.xml and maps.
the tileset folder just contains tilesets. I removed unslf.sti because Google does not allow exicutables and I needed to email it.
If anyone needs any files please PM or Email me and I will send them.

there are still six people who have not downloaded the tileset folder from Esnips. If you downloaded the maps folder and not the tileset folder the maps will be really screwed up.

ok..after playing some and going about taking sectors..i must say..these are well thought out and fluid in design..they maintain the original spirit well

apon further playing..oops..i just got mega uber and 200k richer Sad plus no npc placement in mine section of drassen..so cant talk to priest or desanto or fred :/

weird..npc's just showed up after 24 hours time by..sorta like a br's stock refresh..lol...ok..the no npc whine is moot now Razz

maybe insane is an accurate definition?

thank you for the comments and the compliment.

I put the sector descriptions in the readme to help guide.

the money is for the insane mod. when playing the mod you need lots of money. (millions)

But these maps are just in the ALPHA stage . there is a lot of work to be done.

have taken 3 drassen sectors..and i'm now uber enough to take out meduna..the map design's are good..the over abundance of goodies..even for insane mode is extreme overkill...sorry oldnoooooooooooooooooooob but thats a negative imho

ps:many many times..i've played insane mode using only whats dropped and succeeded..and thats only with drop all on for omerta drop zone..but thats my personal style..i dont like having millions...no challenge when yer insured of always being superior in everyway..becomes a turkey shoot

Well so far, lots of tire kickers but only a few downloads. I guess INSANE is to intimidating, maybe I should of labeled it "pussy".

There are still five people who have not downloaded the tileset folder.

Play couple of sectors, and maps look nice but little too extreme for my taste Smile
From drop out of helicopter you became under shooting and siege with long and precise rifles.
It's look like ambush as they all expect you are coming, and there are too many even for dumb computer AI in such short 160x160 map.

So going to extend size of your map and then continue to play.

You do fine job but maybe reduce a little bit soldier number and their equipment, but that just my opinion, everybody have own preference of play Smile

Hi Kriplo, Thanks for the comment,
The maps are for my JA2 1.13INSANE mod and have many more, better equipped, better led garrisons. The mod intro states "they know you are coming".

I will change the maps readme to recommend playing at a lower level than normal.

I combined the two folder into one. nothing else has changed.

Now there is only one folder to download.

Hoi! I have used this set of maps, but i gota strange problem.

A few week ago, I made a save when I just took B13 Airport. Now, with this new set of maps, the map of B13 Airport truns out to be a desert (no building, no plane, and most of all ... no cargo pick-up) if I load that savefile.

Should I restart the game all over again? Or something I did wrong?

You should never use an old savegame after introducing new maps. On most occasions the result is a mismatch, just like you experienced.

If you want to play your old save, return to the old maps you used at the time the save was made.
If you want to use the new maps, start a new game.

A little warning to those using Oldnooob's maps with the newest versions of 1.13: His tileset folder also contains smguns.sti and the smp#item.sti-files, and these are not up to date (his smguns.sti misses 10 gun pics, it ends at #354, whereas the SVN-version ends at #364).

So you may want to use the item-sti files from SVN.

Starwalker, It is no wonder there are no new mods developed when dire warnings are issued immediatly.

So can I overwrite those for files safely or not and what happens next week when you add more changes to SVN?

Fortunately this is an ALPHA version so I can make changes with an update.

Starwalker, the SVN smguns.sti is dated 11/13/2008
mine is dated 12/2/2008
The SVN smp1.sti is dated 11/13/2008
mine is dated 2/19/2009

So how could I possibly be expected to know that the SVN is newer?
