I tried out the 7.62x39 c-mag adapter (on an AEK-973) and had some unpleasant results...

First, the max ammo load changed to 75 instead of 100. Then when I unloaded the gun, I got a standard 30-round magazine. 45 rounds had vanished! Sad

On a related note, why are c-mag adapters "permanent" add-ons? Is there really any good reason? Presumably you could change a gun back if you wanted to. Smile

Thanks.

1. it's not a c-mag - it's a 75-round drum
2. that happens quite often with the first unload - have a look at your 30 round ak-mag - it holds 75 rounds
3. to prevent a 5th attachment-cheat

1. I'm sure you're right. I'll check it again.
2. Yeah, I noticed that...hmm. I think I reloaded the 75-round mag and it went down to 30 again. Somewhere 45 rounds vanished.
3. You mean it was possible to cheat and have 5 attachments at one time? Weird.

Thanks!

No, it's a way to stop people loading 75 rounds into their AK, removing the magwell adaptor, then sticking another attachment in it's place. Giving you 75 rounds to play with, with no penalties.

Same goes for any of the other magwells that're around, 9mm, 5.56mm, etc, etc.

it was possible if it could be removed

1. put the adaptor in
2. load the gun
3. take the adaptor out

=> 75 rounds - 4 empty slots

Ahh...I see. Good reason for making them permanent then. Not a horrible cheat, really, but I get it.

As soon as the new attachment system becomes the standard this "cheat" will be irrelevant anyway.

Just FYI, the item description for the 7.62mm WP drum adapter says it holds 100 rounds.
