Imagine that you could encounter a completely new RPC in JA 2.
What would you like him to be like? Please make suggestions!
:trooper: :viking: :junkyarddog:

Will you...

- Encounter the RPC relatively early in he game OR rather late, towards the end ?????

- Let the RPC demand lots of money OR only some money OR no money at all ?????

- Make the RPC a demolitions expert OR a doctor OR a Mr. Fixit OR whatever... ?????

- Give the following traits to the RPC: .... ?????

Well, I personally would like to have a RPC that is available early in the game (somewhere around Drassen),
demands not so much money ($400 per day or maybe less) and who is specialized in repairing stuff.

I'm about to make a new RPC for my mod and I would like to know what other players want to have.

Concise and lapidary as always - thats good ol' Gorro. :snake:

I guess it was me who triggered the FO-thingy with mentioning Mr. Fixit in my 1st post.
Alright then... :tired:

Myron... is an asshole. If you take a mix of ... say Gumpy (geek/nerd), Trevor (genious/annoying) and Conrad (arrogant) you pretty much got yourself a perfect Myron.

Cassidy is an all-time favourite not only of mine but of many FO2 players. And I think it's best to let him stay where he is.

@all:

Please some suggestions. Think of it as a wish-list! :magician:

No for real.....

Make a very very expensive rpc that the player encounters early in the game. Not only will it be required to have a large reserve of money, but also make him/her refuse your offer unless a certain "special" item is also given to him/her. I would also make him/her very mysterious and short with his/her answers.

So in essence he/she is the prototype mercenary. Who is on his/her own agenda in Arulco, but for the right price will be willing to work for you. He/she has his/her own completely custom gear that is very very exquisite and powerful/efficient.

Then........Later in the game, make him/her turn on you like a rottweiler dog turning on his/her master. He/she will destroy all of those who knew of his existence (or all of those in the sector, including: hired mercenaries, terrorists, civilians, enemies, militia, et cetera).

Make it so when the mysterious rpc finally turns on your team, (late in the game), and he kills all of those on your team in the current sector we can watch him assassinate all witnesses in the current sector (a la Demise of Man). Then he just walks off to the edge of the screen and is never seen again.

Hmm. Well I can actually imagine your idea fitting well into some kind of action movie. First of all, I dislike those "mysterious nobodys" who don't say anything and have power-playing stats (like Mike). I would rather go for mercs with a real personality

And... are you serious about the "eliminating the whole sector including all of your mercs" thing??? MAYBE this would turn outsomehow entetaining for a minute, but NO ONE would go on with a game where maybe his full main squad was eliminated late in th game in a freaking cut scene! Ppl just would reload.
...not speaking of the trouble of actually making this work in the game...

Hm, on the one hand this sounds like an excellent idea to me because I like it when player's choice has an heavy impact on gameplay. But on the other hand, creating an RPC usually involves lots of work and possibly also lots of passion. Seeing one fully created RPC being "wasted" in the game (because you can only access one out of two) doesn't seem very intuitive to me.
But then again, I like the main idea behind it.

UniversalWolf
A Vietnamese girl with an AK47 and a rusty old VW bus.

Vietnamese girl would definitely bring some change into the game since there are not that many girls and not many asians to be found in Arulco. Maybe she could be Yanni's granddaughter fighting on her own against Deidranna because she dislikes the pathetic rebels.
The problem with this idea is the classic "JA2 new RPC problem": It's not easy to obtain a girl in RL, willing to do the speeches for some geeky old game, and the pics are also a bit more difficult than those of a man.
The VW bus is out of reach for me since can't make the grapics of it. But it leads me to the idea that maybe this vietnamese girl could replace Hamous since he is useless anyway (of course he wouldn't be deleted, he would rather make an appereance at another point in the game).
The girl could also be imprisoned in the jail in Alma...

Kaerar
I guess that's to take over from Madame Layla after your shoot her wink

Doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I'm trying to arrange the RPCs in a balanced way throughout Arulco. San Mona already offers one RPC (Iggy) and also the whole place (San Mona) is already spammed with quests and important NPCs (not to mention Tony's shop).

Do you guys also have suggestion concerning the stats & traits of a possible new RPC?

LOL I was being silly Wink

For a serious request I would have to say an ex-SAS guy on holiday in Arulco, grounded after flights stopped and stuck at the airport. Would give you another set of hands cheap at the beginning who can actually do something bar missing barn doors Smile

Excellent idea kaerar, i like it. Now what about Defectors from the army, guys who's moral makeup makes them rather go AWOL than stay and fight. we can pretty much give them any character traits we want and place them anywhere. if possible only make them appear in sectors where battles always take place. there stats can vary depending on when they appear.

I always thought it would be cool to find someone kept hostage in Kingpins underground lair. You are not the only one who tried to steal from kingpin, only thing is that this chick got caught. We would be looking at a sneaking/throwing/blades woman, preferably of asian descent. She has incredible dex and agility, but low on str and shooting. Doesn't have any other notable skills except being an expert on human anatomy, (med 30) which she learned over time being an assassin/thief. She's kept alive by King Pin only because she came along with Iggy and Mike as part of a team to aid Deidranna and Kingpin doesn't know she defected and doesn't want to anger Deidranna by executing her or worse.

She decided to part ways along with Iggy when they found out how evil she is. Although she didn't want to work for Deidranna, she wouldn't want to just waste away in a bar waiting for a miracle like Iggy. She wanted to make the best of the situation and tried to steal from Kingpin. She would join if you rescue her and her unique equipment would be kept in storage for you to rescue as well. Drawback would be she would be very expensive.

Late might be less useful for the player. Also many players may never get to that point in the game and never see the RPC. As a result I suggest rather early, maybe Drassen would be nice, San Mona would work as well.

Beka
- Let the RPC demand lots of money OR only some money OR no money at all ?????

It might be very difficult for a player to get an RPC who costs lots of money at the beginning of the game. But I feel the usual RPCs are a little too cheap like Shank, Dynamo, Hamous etc. and the better RPCs are a little too expensive when compared to AIM e.g. Conrad. Something in the middle might work well, like Numb from MERC, on that level.

Beka
- Make the RPC a demolitions expert OR a doctor OR a Mr. Fixit OR whatever... ?????

Ira is already a doctor, Maddog is a mechanic, some people don't use explosives that much, Dimitri is a thrower, so you have most of the basics already covered. An ambidex RPC is most useful from heli landing to Drassen mine (assuming the mod doesn't have AET). Maybe a relatively weak shooter might work well, someone with similar stats to MD without the medical skill?

Beka
- Give the following traits to the RPC: .... ?????

Some Renegade Republic maps have lots of water, being a non swimmer has a real effect in those mods, other than that most traits have no noticable effect. We have enough psychos as is, no need to introduce even more for my taste. Anything will work here.

I just want a better looking, less annoying replacement for Ira.

How about a Brazilian supermodel who was part of a photo-shoot in Arulco and got cut off from her group by the war? I don't care if she starts off with crappy stats. Very Happy

Okay, I guess the new RPC will eventually roughly look like this:
A person (preferably a woman, probably a man) that hangs around somewhere in the starting area (Omerta, Drassen...) and is willing to join your team for few $$$. She/He won't be specialized in a certain direction and will have low/medium stats in general. All in all she/he will just be some additional force in your team to fight against "Big D." without being something eceptional (except for her/his character maybe).

I agree completely about stats. On the other hand, it's nice if the character has traits that aren't useless. Double Lockpicking, for example, would be redundant.

Maybe a loser mercenary that lost his entire squad trying to find the rebels the first time around.

Basically make the story so bad that Enrico wouldn't even want to talk about what happened the first time around.

Make him a RPC for something like 500 a day and give him the stats of a handyman that is equally good at being a medic, mechanic and explosives guy (around 60 all) and give him the rest average with quite high wisdom (+80).

Basically make him that loser that cowered in the corner whilst his team got wiped out by the army.
He tries to act tough but always is remembered as that foolish loser that let his first team down.

I don't care if he is a chick or a dude, but i would love to be able to have such a loser in the team.
He would try to redeem himself for the whole game long.
