Yup, NAS merging (the effect of the newest beta version) + some other minor changes

The more guns the more work. Whoever gets to convert IoV to NAS is going to have to be a cyborg.

Sandro also wrote that he implemented the new merc records in the current version. This gives additional info about merc history.

It was discussed in this thread -> http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=256325#Post256325

Here is the new version (with new merc records implemented):

(also at the first post)

I don't know what else could be meant by "new merc records implemented" than the additional info in the mercs history. :whoknows:
I didn't test his last version as I use my own STOMP+NAS merger.

well. dont expect to see an updated IoV any time soon. It will take some time to modify the entire items.xml.

we're also implementing some of our own features in the IoV_STOMP_NAS, such as enemy gun jam, putting the enemy/civillian/militia turn speed setting in the ingame option menu etc.

Speaking of landmines, we already got the 'auto flag' option. Would it be possible to also get an option to disable the comments when spotting a mine? You know, Wildfire / AIM maps have these huge mine fields and when you hear one particular joke about lipstick, toes or the way to the outhouse 30 times in a row (because you usually have one explosives expert), it isn't funny any more.

I don't play vanilla JA2, but from what I noticed all you need to do is put any nv goggles on stogie to get it. Not much of a challenge to recreate the bug if you ask me. The only thing is I'm not 100% sure it happens right away. I had stogie for quite a while before I noticed it. Then again, I did not have enough nv goggles to go around.

If you have a version that would support WF maps+mapupdate+IoV I would be more than happy to send a save game.

Yeah, someone reported that the game would crash if you put NV goggles on Ira. Couldn't reproduce that.

Now I equipped some "NV goggles I" with Stogie and the game crashed. Fine. This is a good start to look for the bug. Thanks.

Haha, I just compiled the source and couldn't find the additional info in the game as well although everything is in the code. Looks like he has a mix of those two systems in there:

and

http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/4656/qmark2a.jpg

Gotta fix this... Very Happy

Ok honestly i love your work , it makes Jagged Alliance even more terrific .
Even if i had to spent days on editing the XML files and fix faces of PCM7
So dont take it the wrong way , but this is meant to be constructive critisme .
If i offend in anyway then consider it the wrong approach and not written .

Few details and complaints.

None Game Breaking but desired skills

Carry Weight increase .
decrease body building carry weight , and spread it around in technician and heavy weapons skill .
Makes it much more friendly and desirable especially as starting skills , where the heavy weapons are not available

Your Mercprofile XML is based on what you play , thats not bad or wrong .
But sadly maddog with teaching >.<
Too many teaching spread around , cause used as secondary characters . rather prefer them to have original traits .
Even if it makes them less practical .

Game breaking combination
Stealth and Athletics .
AP is pricey 33% decrease on AP for almost anything but shooting .
Top it up with perma stealth 25% is added from level . is more AP to do too much .

Anything that ads click to aim is a bit way too good even with dynamic aiming .
(cause some bugs forced me to put accurate aiming true . not knowing if its from stomp or vns bugs . without accurate aiming the game bugs down on open field firing cause all weapons to act like damn pistols without scopes )
So mabye this complaint is not valid , but something bugged up and in accurate aiming . the additional click to aim , are way too uber .

Bugs .
Something is happening at night time operations , that i can

Dammit, I forgot to put the question marker in.. Smile Uploading corrected version now..
(And yeah, there is a reason why there is the question mark for records and why not for traits. It's because the numbers on records are too small to catch with the mouse pointer, so for better user-friendly behaviour, I've made it this way. And left the trait help texts as they are, because of players' wishes.)

To everyone:
Please download the STOMP again, I added a missing file (PERSONNEL_TOOLTIP_MARK.sti) which goes to data\laptop.

dravak:
I am unfortunately out of the project. It may take some time till I come back to work on JA2 again. I apreciate your concern though. Smile

Cool, your picture looks better anyway so I'm going to download again. Smile

Btw. I found another bug:

You said that you are going to put the "CHANCE_TONY_AVAILABLE" setting into the "[Shopkeeper Inventory Settings]" section of the Ja2_Options.ini.

Well, it is there in the ini but in the "GameSettings.cpp" you still query:
gGameExternalOptions.ubChanceTonyAvailable	= iniReader.ReadInteger("Strategic Event Settings","CHANCE_TONY_AVAILABLE", 80, 0, 100);

It should be:
gGameExternalOptions.ubChanceTonyAvailable	= iniReader.ReadInteger("Shopkeeper Inventory Settings","CHANCE_TONY_AVAILABLE", 80, 0, 100);

Modder/coder folks, may I ask you with high respect to upgrade STOMP 1.2 with NAS 0.60b? I don't know how much work it is but an earlier NAS is already inculded as I saw so maybe not needed to start it from the basics.

I would love to merge STOMP 1.2 with NAS 0.6x but the problem is that:

a) Warmsteel didn't release the source code yet
b) Sandro didn't give permission to merge his code with the developer tree

So only Sandro can do this and obviously he hasn't got the time to do so.

But you can merge it yourself for personal use once Warmsteel releases the code for NAS 0.6x.

I think it's still really early to start merging all this stuff. Both versions are still being tested and new bugs are reported. You might get hung up on a bug that is game breaking and cannot continue, or seriously pisses you off at the very least. While I appreciate NAS I appreciate playing IoV a bit more too.

@all: Sandro sent me the source to merge in the development trunk. I hope I can merge today. Then I will release a new Test EXE (together will all the GameDir files) for testing.

Of course there can be new bugs, but it will only get merged in the development trunk. Then it is time again to start testing and hunting for bugs.

You mean the "INIEditorJA2Options.xml"? I can try that. English descriptions should be in the "Ja2_Options.ini" and the min/max values are in the "GameSettings.cpp". Yeah, I will figure that out. :type:

Feedback: description of IMP_FEMALE_2 in Ja2_Options.ini is partially in Russian.
CHANCE_TONY_AVAILABLE was a cool addition but the editor says MISSING_DATA_TYPE. Does it mean that the feature is really missing or just the details not given?

That's why the "INIEditorJA2Options.xml" had to be updated. I'm finished now and also fixed that description for "IMP_FEMALE_2" and the range for "CHANCE_BLINDED_BY_HEADSHOT" (only noticed them by chance).

RoWa got a copy of the updated file for the developer tree.
