Hi Guys,

I know not many may be playing this mod, however it is one of the best mods I have played so far! If you are into close quarter combat, this is the mod to play.

After taking two cities my guys still use pistols (not machine pistols) because the distances in urban combat are very short and pistols cost the least APs to shoot.

Is there any way to fix Tony being hostile due to me killing the guards around Claudia?

I am such a greedy person, when I saw that fat enemy sector after freeing Calisto, I had to go down there and mow everyone down while manically laughing.

Bearpit posted (6 years ago) that some of the guards accompanying Claudia are wrongly assigned to the San Mona Arms faction and killing them makes Tony not want to buy my stuff anymore, that is so sad... Crying or Very Sad

If anyone knows anything please let me know, thanks in advance,
Dieter

Hey Dieter,
now i ran into that problem too first time round.

Its not the guards AFAIK, its Claudia

Quote:
Her name is Claudia Papanus ,You can change her civ group in Pro Edit it was set on SanMonaArms, change to Queens or Hicks or unused15 if you want. This will stop Tony's Agressiveness. You will have to start a new game too.Sorry

Quoted from one of the threads in here.
I did that and it worked fine.

Oh yeah, in this mod you really appreciate pistols all the way through.
When clearing rooms and smaller quarters youre often boned without one.

UC is freggin awsuuuuuum!!

Yo Hazmat, Many thanks for your quick reply!!

Did you test if you can fix Claudia in an existing game to get Tony to not be hostile?

Is starting a new game required for Tony to work?

Yeah, a restart is sadly unavoidable after you have already killed Claudia.
As i understand it the game already stored a value or something which defines tonys hostility and this is untouched by the faction change afterwards.
The only way around this, which i can imagine, would involve a sophisticated amount of knowledge in altering the games code or stored data, which i do not have^^

If u have any additional question about the ins&outs of UC ask away, ive played this mod so many times that i can prolly answer most of em.

Thanks Hazmat and Logi, really appreciate it!!

I looked at the Vanilla save game, there is a section for Tony, I will check a hex dump before and after GABBI killing Claudia and see if I can hex edit anything. If I am successful, I will let you guys know here. Working right now, need to try on the weekend.

I am so p*ssed that Tony became unusable, this changes your strategy how you handle enemy item drops completely. So far I have been spending a lot of time stealing guns from elites. Now since I can't sell them, all that is left is collect attachments. Once you have 18 of every type, you can just kill the elites outright, no point collecting more.

Yeah, this screwed me hard when i played for te first time.
Makes you wonder why it was not fixed/patched in ye olde UC days.

If u are an adept stealer, i say you should visit the gun smuggler sectors around danubia.
Some sectors contain grey shirted civillians, they tend to have some neat stuff and the sectors contain a good selection of rare loot.
You also will find trigger groups, twist barrels and scope/launcher adapters there to build your m4/m4a1 rifles which are awesome as jack!

I checked my save game when I got home, there is no way I can hex edit that one, it looks compressed / encrypted. The clear text Tony string I found was from an unused portion of memory which was written to disk, had nothing to do with Tony's stats / hostility.

Did a test where I started a new game, teleported to Claudia, and Alt+O killed all enemies. Interesting that this killed Claudia but not her "bodyguards". Checked with Tony, he was not hostile. Went back to the Claudia sector, picked a fight with the bodyguards, Alt+O kill all again, and Tony was still not hostile. Looks like Alt+O kill does not "credit" the kill to me. Will do another test soon where I kill them with my merc.

I checked the Prof.dat and Claudia does show as SanMonaArms faction.

I can't reproduce it with GABBI. I even shot every single guy in the Claudia sector by hand using Alt+D to give me APs, Tony is still not attacking me, what the heck? I even shot the convoy guards who are initially not hostile, still Tony is selling me stuff. Really wierd.

I even tried exiting and entering Tony sector in case teleporting circumvented the strategic event, still nothing. Of course looking at the save game in hex shows nothing useful as there is no strategic event queued.

I am out of ideas as of now. To make it clear, teleporting to Claudia, killing her, history log shows she is dead, then teleporting to Tony, he still sells me stuff. Does anyone have a suggestion how to reliably reproduce Tony becoming hostile due to a strategic event?

Civilian factions do not seem to go immediately hostile if you only kill a small number of that faction. Give it a few days.

Just to add my two cents on this bug, just set Tony to no faction. In original Urban Chaos, Tony is just there on his own, and functionally does not need to be part of a faction. Story wise he may be linked to the man in the gunshop in C4, and even to the gunrunners, but functionally in original Urban Chaos he is independent of other game important factions.

I dont quite get what your aim is Dieter?

It is confirmed that Claudia is the scapegoat(there are at least three threads about it in the UC sub forums), cause you can see that she is set to Tony

Does Tony becoming hostile after Claudia's death still happen in the last version (3.60) of wil473 great mod? If so where is the file to update?

jpg, better go and look around in the UC-1.13 section in the 1.13 HQ. 'Cause i dunno if wil is monitoring this section regularly.
I am convinced that reading/searching the FAQ and Bug reports there can answer your question in no time. Smile

Quite old thread,I realize, but for those still playing original UC, here's a workaround: use mustard gas to kill the civilian body guards and Claudia herself (if you are not squeamish use cheating to get enough, after all this is a quite severe bug); Kills by mustard gas are not counted against you. Or, if you are patient and cruel, shoot them critical and let them bleed out, same effect. You can tell if they are the "problematic" guys from the morale drop on your troops when one dies (your mercs don't like killing civis, another reason to avoid it). Of course you'd have to reload a few times this way.

Good thing this has been risen from the dead. I'm playing UC for the second time (didn't finish the first due to hard drive dying on me) and just stumbled on hostile Tony. Weird thing, since it didn't occur the first time i played UC and i had already killed that Claudia bitch that time too. Also did apply the map fix and mini fix (or what was it called), that i hadn't done the first time.

Since there is no way to fix this in this game and i don't intend to start a new one, what did exactly Tony sell in UC? Were there any unique items or rare ammo that i will have hard time finding anywhere else? The fact that i can't sell my loot to him doesn't really bother me as crepathingie factories provide more than enough and lugging guns from all around the map to Port Kip is a drag anyway.

Tony sells mostly crappy guns and ammo, but also 7.62 NATO, 5.56 AP and Dragunov ammo early on. He also sells better stuff like 40mm grenades later, but I'd say you find enough of that anyway. 7.62, 5.56 and Dragunov ammo can be ordered from Bobby too, but the 5.56 AP appears a bit late and might be a little scarce. The NATO guns guy (Smithy) sells 5.56 too though and he doesn't get hostile. Likely, anything Tony sells can be found at Bobby's too, sooner or later.
