So i have JA2 GOLD that i got off of steam and i applied the 1.13 patch (greatest patch/upgrade ever btw).

and i am trying to assemble a x-ray device with the lame boy (not the game boy...) copper wire, gum, xray tube, and rumble pack. But the 1.13 patch wont let me attach the copper wire+lame boy to the rumble pack+xray+gum.....Is there something different here that i am missing? It says that there is no slot avaliable for it....if anyone could send me the list of all the new item merges avaliable in 1.13 or tell me how to get my xray device i would be forever happy.

Thanks,

You already have the lists. Check your XML editor.

Your XML editor that came with your 1.13 package. Take a gander at that.

Actually, as an intermediate fix before the new release is out, you have to set the coolness of each merge result to anything but 0. Any value between 1 and 10 is fine.

And of course, Welcome to the Pit, GASK3T

Word of warning. When yo adjust the coolness, you may start seeing enemy soldiers dropping bits and pieces that make up the x-ray detector. Or even an x-ray detector itself depending on what coolness values you use and what you have your enemy drops set to. If you use this work around, I'd advice you to set the coolness values after you have all the items you need. Create the x-ray detector and then reset the coolness values back to 0. Bit of a hassle but at least you won't have enemies dropping items they shouldn't. Smile

perfect, thanks for the advice and i look forward to the new patch. I have always loved this game and its really an aquired taste kind of game. I finally convienced my buddy to try it and now he is addicted too. Hopefully the new patch will make the multiplayer more stable and also open up the inventory/weapons a bit more a on the website too

BTW - can any of you point me to a thread on advice for assault rifles? ive gone through the game on expert/insane mode and it seems to get too easy at the end equipping everyone with sniper rifles. The assault rifles only seem to have a range of 7-10 tiles. Occasionally i find myself backing up to target enemies. If i dont find myself in that small 7-10 tile range away from an enemy, the assault rifles are useless.

7-10? AR are usually in the 30-50 range, M4, G3, AK47 and all the mundane rifles should have a lot more range than that. It may be a bug with NCTH (new chance to hit) but that is not an AR problem, it's a calculation problem or a scope problem, that should have been fixed in newer versions (42xx).

yea, give my 7-10 range may be off a lil bit Wink.....

but the original game the burst was significanty more accurate. Given it was TOO accurate at times (i think shadow was bursting all 5 shots of a C7 into heads a good half mile away) but it just seems that 1.13 that the assault rifles and MG bursts/autos have a very limited range. I keep finding myself defaulting to the sniper rifles. Maybe im venting but i like a little bit but i prefer a lil more variety in weapon line up. Maybe its just me??? Still the 1.13 mod is miles better then the original and i applaud everyone who helped put it together.

Does the .ini file in your game have a burst/auto fire multiplier? Later versions have this to balance against aimed burst/autofire.

Now that depends on what version of v1.13 you are using. The multiplier if I remember correctly, is set to 2x by default, but is only in versions of v1.13 that give you the ability to aim burst and auto shots such as the current v4057 Single Click Installer (though not official, it is the most advance implementation of v1.13 available to the general public).

Now, if you are running v4057, this is the easy answer to why burst and auto seems inaccurate - however a quick look at the thread does not reveal what version you are running.
