Is it a bug or a feature that the only way to trigger the crepitus in sci-fi-mode is to attack the subsector in tixa?

I believe that if one completes the bloodcat questm then the crepitus will rear it's ugly head.


Than You are a believer not a knower.

Unless somebody has changed it the crepitus is triggered by the number of objectives/cities taken by the player.

I played some hours with the beta 2 release of 27. march 2011

a short feedback

- sometimes the game crashes while going into a sector view
- there are civilians and other AIs with ??? name tags
- the ammo indicator shows ?? sometimes


I am using a german ja2 install version 1.05 and the 2 german installer packages given in closed beta test

no2 feature, where shoould you know their names from if you haven't yet talked to them
no3 ham-feature (you may disable it in the ini if you don't like it) - do you know how amny bullets you have left?

Can't find Hamous & his Ice Truck
Play this version a day or 4 and still cant find him.

I travelled everywere, all known locations where he can popup.

I start frustrated by now Sad

And there is also no car in San Mona.

MAX_NUMBER_PLAYER_VEHICLES = 4
Is it bugged?

I can confirm Hamous (and his truck) is available in the latest release... found him by accident when traveling with hmmvv from estoni to drassen (can't recall exact sector)

1.13 is the base mod. Guess you could call WF/AIM (Wildfire/Alpha Item Mod) addons.
This thread's about 1.13, nothing else.

I have a few questions about the release due for late this month:

1. Will a compatible version of NSGI be included?
2. Does NSGI alter starting IMP gear as well? If not, are there any plans for varying the starting gear/having either more choice or a greater random factor?

I'm aware this topic is only for 1.13 updates, but I've noticed in the new beta there didn't seem to be randomization of IMP loadouts. (My mainly played version was the latest non-beta SCI, think 3356, and I believe there was more of a random chance to get certain gear. If not with weapons, at least attachments.)

My Sniper/Stealthy IMP keeps getting issued an MP5, and my Machinegunner a Colt High-Cap. Would be great if they could be given appropriate weapons for their specializations. (Low tier Sniper Rifle or Battle Rifle for Sniper, and low tier LMG for Machinegunner, if not 100% for receiving this loadout, making it a possibility would be great)

I apologize if these questions were already answered; in the NSG topic I found, I haven't seen any real updates since 2010.

nsgi is included - there are no additional gearkits so far as someone has to make them - take that as a hint if you like (after all it is one)

sounds like you machinegunner is a bad shot - again, if you don't like it edit it )this probably the easiest and most rewarding part of moding, so give it a try

take a look at impstartinggear.xml (and items.xml for reference on the item-ids)

Yeah, kinda. I kept him at 60 Mrk, and kept getting the Colt High-Cap.
My other IMP(Sniper) with 80 MRK consistently gets the MP5/10A3.


I did a little fiddling around with the XML Editor and made the Machinegunner get an M60E3, and Sniper a M24.

(Sniper is a Type, but couldn't locate Machinegunner, so just edited both Auto Weapons and Auto Weapons Exp, did the same for Sniper too, since it had an Exp version. This probably isn't the right way, but it seems to have worked. =P)

Imp gear is based on the stats your IMP has. The code looks at the number of items in a list that are associated with a specific stat, then compares that to the stat in question. For instance, if a stat has 3 items associated with it, then you get the first item if the stat is 33 or less, the second item with a stat of 66 or less and the third item with a stat of 100 or less. There's really not much randomization involved with the exception of the "Random Items" list. I routinely modify this file, though, so that my IMPs start with whatever gear I find appropriate.

And the new release is slated for the end of the month. We're still trying to get as many bugs resolved as we can.

Im new here but not to JA. Been playing since forever (middle or high school when the first came out). Ive played some version of 1.13 and loved it but i dont know which one i downloaded. Where will this new version be for download and is it still on schedule for late april 2011? What are the major changes from the older release? Thanks guys!

No.. it wont.. They've said is end of April. Is it end of April.. yes, it is.. Have it passed? No its not.. So just wait.. patiently. Like the rest of us. Its only another week. Go out have fun or just make new IMP characters that you can reload into your new game later on. There's a lot to do besides playing a 10 year old game kept alive by awesome mods.

They doing it for free at their own free time. Its done when its done.

My advice.. go play minesweeper at the mean time.

Will the next release include a working version of the XML Editor?
To me that was the best feature of the entire "1.13 game" by a wide margin.
I tried some mods / versions for the admittedly cool features but always ended up going back to "old" 1.13 because of the editor.

The last mention of the editor was a post around February so I figured I'd ask. =)

The INI editor is less critical (to me). That's only one file and it's easy to navigate.

BTW, the most up to date version is compatible with 4057 and earlier. So you won't have to start a new game just because the new release becomes available.

sweet compatible rocks! btw i noticed something about build 4057. On the normal difficulty the i had literally ZERO crashes and no problems other then the know documented bugs. But on hard difficulty the game crashed about once every hour or so of playing time. It was weird because nothing was different except the difficulty level.

2nding this.. No problem in experienced difficulty, but crashed twice before reaching drassen in expert.

I'm not insane level yet >.< I had problem dealing with 25 admin/elites already in the airport skirmish. And Ira already dead (she goes out taking 3 black shirts with her initial 12 bullets tho, so god blessed her exit)Razz

I noticed that rifles lack accuracy when not equiped with a scope.

Also there seems to be a problem with full auto firing. When my mercs use full auto or burst it is all or nothing. No hits or a hit with every bullet.

Doesn't make sense to me.

I've changed some setting in JA2Option.ini last night, mainly to bump the AI setting like allowing unlimited pool troop for the queen and such.. On Experienced setting (because CTD on expert difficuly)

I've also noticed a setting that supposedly changed potrait based on the gears a merc wear .. (I remember a youtube clip that have the potrait changed when a merc wears a gas mask/night scope/sun glass) .. but it didnt changed on mine. I only have 3 IMP and Ira right now tho, so I dont know if its limied to the ones on AIM.

The icon on what gear my merc used do show up tho.
