This thread is for general discussion on AIMNAS (Alpha Item Mod with New Attachment System... a.k.a Smeagol's Item Mod for 1.13 with Maps based on Wildfire//Big Maps test project).

Though it's not yet 2012, time to open a new thread. The big maps project will definately not get finished this year (and probably won't be next year either...).

For latest AIMNAS version follow this link to Tais' SCI's.

Thread 9 can be found here.

You can post special Item Requests either here or better yet in the AIMNAS Item Request Thread.

I usually read all the AIMNAS threads on a regular basis, even if I don't answer all of them immediately, I notice the stuff you post and might eventually come back to it.

New players that need general information what AIMNAS is or who need install instructions follow this link to the FAQ.

I might move the Gun list, the Merge list and the Scope Sight Range chart to the FAQ later on as well.

DepressivesBrot
To end the confusion risen over the last days and the multiple internal development versions, smeag asked me to pack a cleared up v25 TESTVERSION.

>>>Download v25<<<

Installation:
1) Follow the instructions given in the HAM-Thread to get a working installation thereof.
2) Download v25 and unpack it to that folder

NOTE:
This is a test version of the new HAM features (transformations, primarily) as well as the Big Maps. It still does NOT work with NCTH and ONLY the sectors marked with a red X on the strategic map are usable.

If you don't feel like testing, the current full release is still v21, get it here and drop it over a JA2 installation with Tais' latest unstable SCI.

Furthermore, any version you find elsewhere should be treated as a development version and you shouldn't get it unless you're a patient tinkerer or know what you're doing with regards to JA2 mods.

Smeagol,

You have a Remington 870 SPM (12 gauge) with two different pictures when we right click it. I don't know if one is just the pic of it with a stock or if they are two totally different guns.

Also, The bayonet feature is an older feature that wasn't incorporated into 1.13, but I see that you have added a bayonet for the AKM. Does this have any significance, or is it just another knife?

Well... the SPM uses a big pic with stock unfolded and the md pic has the stock folded in the current release version. I made it that way, because the md pic with stock extended looked quite small. However, once I update for item transformations, the extended and folded versions will get seperate pics of course.

The AKM bayonet is in fact just another knife. We didn't have special knives for the russian mercs yet, thought it was time to change that.

Hi, smeagol. Just installed your AIMNAS v21 and played a bit. Captured Drassen including its new warehouse location and found myself unable to train any type of militia.

Militia is just blacked-out as a training option. I hope that i just need to wait while Miguel gets supplies and food.

Or perhaps the latest unstable build of 1.13 somehow causing this problem.

Or is it just intentional?

Militia Training in AIMNAS requires a facility. You'll need either:

a.) Rebel Hideout
b.) A.C.A. Building
c.) some sort of military base (SAM site, Alma training grounds)

Found a small exploit. Sorry if it was already reported.

If you pick more than one Pouch set straps (shift + click) and put them on any modified rig/vest you`ll get the number of the last attached thingy equal to the number of straps used.

For example if you pick up 10 straps in your 'hand' and place them in any slot of mod. AR//AR rig you`ll get 1 AR + 10 ARs in you hand.

That's a new one. Neutral

Dunno if I can fix that somehow without making pouch set straps a bigger size so that they don't stack anymore.

It actually works visa-versa if you pick for example 10 small utilities and attach to any mod. pouch/rig - you`ll get 10 straps Smile

Honestly, i begin to regret posting this one here. I enjoy manipulating with those rigs a lot and this issue helps me to deal with limited stock of straps and pouches of Bobby.

It's my first post here, but I just need to say "Thank You, smeagol!"
I really enjoy AIMNAS, for me it's just that what I had been missing after first playing a 1.13 Version.
Now with all the work with the stocks, which I think is awesome, I just needed to thank you. (And of course I will start to annoy you with Item requests Wink)

In 1.13 i dealt with SAM sites by infiltrating them and blowing a control panel with minimal enemy causalties.

In AIMNAS i`ve tried to blow up the drassen sam, but even after blowing the ENTIRE control building the sam was still operational.

AIMNAS is using different maps, so perhaps those were not modified yet? Or is this intentional in order to force players to actually control the sites and invest in it?

They have.

And I actually changed the SAM site computer location accordingly. Tried it, and it worked. Question now is, if you have the correct set values in the SamSites.xml and which set of maps you use (big maps or regular ones).

Using everything provided with the latest 1.13 build and AIMNAS v21. Haven`t changed anything in samsites.xml. What should i look there for?

P.S. found these values in samsites.xml for drassen site (15/4):

23209
23210

Are those correct?

Here is the pic of the site:

And the pic of the map right after leaving the site (with destroyed terminal):

Thanks to HAM5 the problem with the pouch set straps has been solved. I simply removed them from the game, as they will no longer be needed. All merges that previously involved LBE pouch set straps are now done with transformations.

Haven't been idle over christmas holidays... here's some more stuff I added.

Why is it not possible to mount anything larger than a 2x scope on the MG3? I can understand this restriction for the MG42, being so old and all, but why extend it to its modern counterpart? Even the FN MAG can mount a 4x scope, and it began production in 1958, compared to the MG3 in 1968, or if you want to get very strict, the MG1 in 1958.

Modern? the MG3 for all intents and purposes is an MG42 with slightly smaller caliber. And while the FN MAG, or rather the M240B, the variant in use by the US Army, got updated with an optics rail on the receiver, the MG3 never got this treatment.

EDIT:
And no, that one pic of a trooper with the EOTech sight and the empty belt drum doesn't count. You can mount reflex sights already.

If the mount is a MIL-STD-1913 rail then it would be possible to mount pretty much anything on it.

Which one do you mean? Going by the looks of it (and a statement in this German forum), the EOTech on the MG3 is mounted on a custom modified AA sight, I doubt you can just put anything on it.

EDIT:
Seems the Danish army did install a Weaver rail on their M/62 (just a different name) though ... smeag, I want scopes on my MG3 Very Happy

Fair enough. I assume the AA sights (not referring to the custom/EOTech whatever) are iron, and would not provide any zoom capability.

Maybe it's an issue with the JA2 distance calculation system in general? That is, the fact that properly simulating sight and firearm ranges would leave most assault rifles able to shoot across the map, sniper rifles would be redundant, etc. I know this is an inherent limitation of the engine (if not the game style itself), and thus outside anyone's ability to change. Still, it does make the MG3 pretty useless without a spotter, and therefore totally redundant if you have an FN MAG, which seems to drop earlier than the MG3 anyway.

With this in mind, why not just delete the MG3?

Some of the polish MG3's mounted on Leo 2's are retrofitted with a Picatinny rail on the top cover. Can't find a picture to prove it though...

Also, i believe Noveske Leonidas is called N6, N4's are 5.56.

Hey Smeagol,

Big fan of your work, but I wanted to ask you if there was a fix underway for the interrupt (IIS) issue (freezing) with using Tais unstable SCI 4802 and AIMNAS v21? I like the idea that IIS conveys so having it disabled makes me feel like I'm not getting the whole experience, if that makes any sense.
Anyways I'll be looking forward for an answer and keep up the good work!

Apparently Sandro kind of vanished, so for a fix, you 'll have to be patient for a real fix. Meanwhile, if you use autosave, you can workaround the bug by quickloading (Alt +L) when stuck, and then load one of the two autosaves. Then, just do slightly different actions (ie : use a different merc first), and you should be ok.

Thanks for your SCIs Tais.

So I should install clean v1.13, followed by your sci for ham 5: (stable_r1343_20111126_gdo) and ham 5.5.1?

Get a clean JA2 install, then throw the special HAM5 SCI over that and then install the newest HAM5 version over that, then you can try to install AIMNAS v24 over that.

You dont need to drop anything into ur JA2 install before you install my SCI because it contains all necessary files

Yes, I'd checked there first to make sure I hadn't misremembered how to do it since vanilla and unmodded 1.13 - I can make the Display Unit and I can attach the x-ray tube to the Fumble Pack, but the gum will not then attach to the Fumble Pack + x-ray tube.
