It was difficult to know where to start this thread so I hope this is fine. Please feel free to move it if I am wrong.

Obviously converting a mod made before 1.13 ever existed and expecting it to work flawlessly with it is asking for a lot but I just wanted to know if people can confirm that my problems are unavoidable and if not how I can fix them. Just killed Deidranna (she isn't anywhere near the end of the game this time!) so I've played an hour or two so far.
  • There are no graphics in the recon file (as in the info about Arulco on the laptop). Not a biggie but might be an indication of more graphics anomalies to come, such as...
  • My A.I.M. mercs start out with golf bags in their inventories (with things in them). While I accept that this is a new feature of said sports equipment in this game now it does seem odd that they start out with them. I don't think there's anything about a golf trip in the introductory story of this mod anyway.
  • What's bothering me the most- the hitmen's keycard codes (and the keycards themselves when used with the laptop) don't work (as in add files to your laptop which is what I think is supposed to happen). Using the mod's little start program (with the option to enter the codes) doesn't work either but I wasn't expecting it to. Is there a way to get this going with or without that little GUI?

I'll allow Will ( Adapter of the 1.13 version ) to answer these , except to say Deidranna might not actually be dead . Clue in title of mod heheh !

I think original DL had the same issue with missing graphics in the Recon file.

The Golf Bag is part joke item (notice that medics are equipped with them), and part unexpectedly useful item - The Golf Bag is the only non-crate Backpack that can carry two full size rifles.

Someday when I have less on my plate, I will transfer the Key card info to the Encyclopedia feature. For now your IMP should have been supplied with a small computer device, take it and merge (non-destructive USE merger) it into the key cards that you find. I've set up a series of items with as much of the original text crammed into the description field, and the laptop item cycles through each series. BulletSix went through original DL and got the text out of it.

OK, thanks. Glad these are not bugs (means I'm doing something right!) and while I chucked one golf bag, now I know it has a special property - makes sense considering its size - I may just keep the other. As for the cards, I did notice that their descriptions changed but I didn't know about the laptop (item); I'll check it next time.
I supposed I could also make a vanilla 1.12 DL folder and use the GUI to get the info onto the laptop (interface) that way. Might even post screen-shots here if I manage to get it to work.

Shown in the order I've come across them as I've been playing. Oddly, when you enter a code it overwrites the "Recon info" file each time rather than adding new files to the list, very annoying.

Using an external program to overwrite the Recon Report was the best that could be managed back then. The Encyclopedia feature currently featured in the Unstable SCI will allow for a hopefully better way to implement those reports. For now, the fiction is available in-game (DL-1.13) by clicking the Digital Assistant item onto the attachment slots of the Key Card to cycle through a chain of items with as much info as I could cram into each description field.

If only I had time to revist DL-1.13, I keep meaning to with the v3.6x base mod, but I'm finding time challenges to even finishing v3.62 right now.

Thanks for your reply wil473, I think I say on behalf of everyone who has played this mod on 1.1.3 that we greatly appreciate the time you have put into it.

Now then, praise aside ;D, I have another problem! This time with facilities- there don't seem to be any! The blerb for the mod mentions that they're the same as vanilla 1.13 (those are present, I've checked) but none of the sectors, in the towns at least, have any in DL. This of course means I can't train militia most importantly. Have I installed something incorrectly? Do I need to edit some files manually? Perhaps I should set every sector to have invisible facilities, the workaround I've read about to make the game behave as in 1.12 (i.e. train in any key sector including SAM sites)? Thanks for your help.

Try deleting the file Facilities.XML from the mod's data folder: \Data-DL113\TableData\Map. This should allow the data-1.13 version of the file to take effect.

EDIT: I just tried the production files for the last version of DL-1.13, I'm seeing facilities in Drassen Airport at least. Before you edit anything, please list off your Data folders in you root JA2 v1.13 directory. Also please note any customization, especially to the .INI.

There was no Facilities.xml in \Data-DL113\TableData\Map and it's not in the original archive. I also tried switching to plain old 1.13 again and yes the facilities show up fine.

The Data folders in my root directory are:
  • Data
  • Data-1.13
  • Data-DL
  • Data-DL113
  • Data-Graphics
Contents of vfs_config.DL113.ini:

Would it help if I just copied Facilities.xml and FacilityTypes.xml from Data-1.13\TableData\Map to \Data-DL113\TableData\Map ?

Ah, I think I might know the problem. My Data-DL folder is a bit of a mess. I'm going to tidy it up at per the layout of the the original ja2dl.exe archive. I'll report back in a second.

By "bit of a mess" does your Data-DL folder include any v1.13 stuff such as a TableData directory? Something ahead of Data-1.13 must be inserting the facilities file. Data-DL is one of those folders per the VFS. You've already cleared Data-DL113 of being the cause, so it must be one of the other folders that contains a bad Facilities.XML file. Also please don't forget to check the profiles folder for the mod.

Yeah, that was it. I had duplicates of some files which must have been causing conflicts. Sorry about that, should have done more research on my part.

Time to revisit this thread again. I have more codes but I haven't made screen-shots yet so watch this space.
This is of course for Will- now my problem is reversed. I can train anywhere, including SAM sites! I only just noticed this today as I've been playing the game 'properly' up until now, assuming that the 1.13 rules were in place. Is this normal for DL or have I messed things up even more now?
