Hey Wil473 and thanks for the preview release!

Some early game thoughts:

1) I think Postie had something wrong with the starting kits, wrong mags I think?
2) I was thinking of ordering Mossberg .410 Mini from BR and some ammo. All shotgun ammo are delivered in 30kg ammo cases, so buying the ammo in reasonable time costs six grand in total, which quite ridiculous. The actual shotgun costs under one thousand with the delivery cost, which is six times less than the ammo.
3) Was there any camo pants etc. in this mod or do I remember wrong?
4) Also, my cursor is kinda jinxed. For example, if I want to open a door, I have to move the cursos way over the actual door in order open it, not directly on top of the door. Like the cursos is in roof-mode all the time, but still I can move my mercs on the land-level. Weird.

By the way, is it possible to use Wildfire maps (from here for example) or other maps with this mod? Cos the vanilla JA2 maps are kinda full of nothing so would be nice to try even with NADA-items etc.

Yeah, I've got a similar problem.
If I see it correctly, the cursor is just fine for 'walking' the Mercs, but once it goes into "target mode" (be it for aiming or for interaction with objects) or into "right click" mode it's a couple of tiles off, as if "roof mode" was enabled...

I changed resolution to 1024*720, but I also have that problem with the default resolution. -.-

Thanks Graywolf, that solved the problem. (Any idea where that comes from? Never ever had that before)

And a small error I believe I have found looking through BR's for the last hour:

the .45ACP HP Ammo Box has the Bobby Ray's description fitting the .45ACP FMJ/AP and vice versa.

Seems AFS comes with some map specific XMLs. You'd have to do quite a bit of tinkering.

Hi,

One more thing I found today:

The HK 33KA2 (.223 Remington) has the name NADA in the sector inventory.

EDIT: Oh some more wiredness: I haven't really made the conlusion before, but I don't think it is intentional, that "heavy throwing knives" transform to "H&K 14.5 Inch barrels" after a hit? I before I was just wondering where they were going after hit but now I connected the dots and found that all my heavy throwing knive victims had those barrels on them. Just now I attacked a guy with three knives and the body revealed three barrels.


Just a question: said HK 33 and also the MP5A5 have movable stocks. Is it intentional, that those can't be moved through item transformation?

Fixed the Kahr P380 and Colt Mustang being set as two handed weapons.
Fixed the incorrect "bloody" "heavy throwing knives

I'll have to take a look at the HK's again later.


EDIT: found a few extra minutes before having to leave.

Fixed "Nada" name for HK 33KA2
Fixed missing transformations for HK MP5A5, HK UMP, HK MP7
- found no problems with HK33A3 transformations

1) Another thing I just saw: the Ruger Mk. III is called Ruber in the BR description Text.


(Hope it's allright "reporting" things this way, I am more or less playing a game like normal making notes on things I see...)

EDIT:
2) If one disassembles the Wilson Combat REC 6.8 SPC 18 A3, one gets a free loaded 6.8 magazine and a tactical iron sight on the upper receiver. This can be repeated over and over (merging-->unmerging-->merging), creating infinite 6.8 mags and iron sights.

EDIT 2:
3) The ParaOrdinance P14-45 exists twice at BR's with same stats but different possible attachments.

4) Question/problem: 6.8 SPC cold/FMJ, just has reduced power (0.8 Armor Piercing and Damage) but no reduced noise level. I don't think this is/should be intentional.

5) Question/problem: The AUG Para does not support the attachment of a Pistol Type Suppressor, but just the IC-Supressor. This behaviour seems to be unlike all other 9*19mm SMGs. Problem here is that such the AUG Para, with the IC attached, is double as noisy as all other supressed 9*19mm SMGs making covert use a lot less viable. If it's intentional I definately disagree.

That's a leftover from when the shotgun was the 2ndary weapon and the rifle was the primary (reversed to see if it works better). I've removed both the suppressor and the .223Rem C-Mag Adapter as attachments to fix this for now.

AFS v4.00 will be out as soon as I get the documentation done, so please report any issues found in the previews as soon as possible.

A new game start will be recommended for AFS v4.00, Buggler found a fix for the offset cursor/empty speech window in the corner bug. Seems an obsolete XML (that I didn't think needed to be worked on) was the cause. However the nature of the XML requires a new game to take effect.

Additionally I'm downloading SCI_Unstable_Revision_5869_on_GameDir_1606 right now to add the INI sections relating to New feature: Equip militia with guns/armour/etc. This .exe is not save game compatible.

M1 Carbine has the option to attach M3 Snooper Scope to it and it works, but when you put the M1 RAS Kit to the M1 Carbine, the rifle doesn't accept the M3 Snooper Scope anymore.

That is intentional, the M3 Snooper Scope and the WWII Scope are incompatible with the RAS Kit. Unfortunately the current version of NAS cannot remove or otherwise hide attachments that are no longer allowable on an item.

Some things I just want to bring up for clarification:
1) Guns with enough/the right attachment points can attach RIS foregrip and Angled Foregrip at the same time. Is that stacking of 'Grip Boni" intentional?

2) The Colt 979 M4A1 (I really like how you 'clarify' the M16 variants now!) can still be repaired by the cleaning kit, as in the last AFS version, I don't think that is intentional. As far as I can see this one is the only M16 where this merge still works.

3) And one other thing: There seem to be a couple of (low coolness?!?) weapons with 'integral laser sight' where said item detaches. Not sure on which exactly, I just realised I had it in some sector inventories and forgot about it... Sorry, have no Savegame left for checking.

Made a minor change to the description so that it is no longer identical to the competition pistol.

That was a mistake. Fixed now the Angled Foregrip is now not compatible with the other Grips.

Raised the coolness of the .380 SIG and the Smith&Wesson Bodyguard as both come with lasers.

EDIT: also fixed the missing inseparable tag on the new integral laser.

Can we expect a new version of UC1.13 sometime in the near future?

Also, I got to admit that a compatibility patch for Arulco Revisited, as Slax mentioned, would be pretty awesome; it's becoming progressively harder to play without AFS weapons and equipment. Wink Considering the nature of AR, I'd imagine a proper combination of the two would require a huge amount of work, which probably doesn't appeal to you very much with the three different mods you already have under development.

I'm taking another shot at DL-1.13 next. Urban Chaos-1.13 v4.xx will take a little more time as it is more complicated than simply changing the base 350 items and adjusting some inventories. (ie. I have to work in all the fixes found over the Previews)

As for any other mods, time will tell...

Looking at both mods, the only issue is that JAsmine used the full 1.5k range of randomly arranged 1.13 items which will lead to a lot of random cr.., nadas, and unlogical stuff to appear on the maps (dunno what even is in that range in AFS)

When in the mapeditor, I get an assertion failure everytime I click on the 'items' button.

- I have installed AFS according to the instructions
- This happens only when I use vfs_config.AFS.ini
- This happens with both mapeditor exes: 5845 and 5853

Alrulco Folding Stock v4.00 20130224 is now in general release


While testing the release, tried Map Editor 5869 with AFS v4.00 and it loaded the stock JA2 map A9 with no problems. JAsmine, are you loading stock maps or AR maps?


Devin's inventory was a bit of a mess. Cleaned it up before v4.00, that HK MSG90 was probably meant to be the more rarer HK XM25.

Reuban pulled the shortest straw and was assigned to the mule duty after clearing the Hike sector east from Cambria. However, a small tear rolled onto his psychopath cheek while he tried sell the SPAS-15s to Tony and the game crashed. Using the Preview 2 version. Here's the pic http://tinyurl.com/aeklvrx

wil473's AFS items brought e mapeditor to its knees.

Coders please stab at e following line in EditorItems.cpp @ line 335
(AFS currently has 64 more items than e limit. May need more than juz simply uping e INT16 to INT32 Smile )

As a temporary fix, I may just slice out 100 of the Random Items. Right now they are simply placeholders with no actual random item definitions. The ironic thing is that those items were meant to facilitate cross mod compatibility...

EDIT: nope, converting 3901-4000 to nothing items (deleted via Notepad++ then used the XMLEditor to fill in the auto generated nothing items) did not help. I must have misread the problem, it is the total number of items (including nothings) that is killing the Map Editor, right? The highest item index in use is 7073 (plenty of empty indexes for organization).

A bunch of weapons still use these stock sounds. I can understand them being used for .22 handguns (even though it still doesn't really fit) but sometimes they get pretty... uncomfortable. Beretta RX Storm being a prime example here. It just doesn't work.
Just my opinion? I hope not.

(This is from the first preview so maybe it's been looked over.) With ASSASSINS_DISGUISED = TRUE you get some item error whenever an assassin shows up.

Igor's second kit comes with wrong ammo. Oops!

Buns's first kit comes with a match sight she can't attach.

Taurus Public Defender has the same range for both .410 and .45 Colt. An oversight?

With ASSASSINS_DISGUISED = TRUE you get some item error whenever an assassin shows up.


Without looking the code, this might happen if they try to wear clothes but fitting clothes items do not exist.

Playing Urban Chaos 3.75 ADCAP Mod 5 and AFS 4.00 General release there is a problem with Tony. Buying from Tony while playing with a vertical resolution of less than 768 causes the game to have an assertion failure. I'm playing at 1280x720 in regular 1.13 and this problem does not occur, only in AFS or UC. Tony can be bought from in 800x600 but while examining the EDB of some of his inventory if you click to close the EDB it causes an assertion failure. He seems to function OK in 1024x768 or above. I tried 1024x768 on my machine and 1920x1080 (my native res) and both didn't produce an assertion failure.

EDIT: I am still getting crashes when trying to buy from Tony but it's random. I can go into the sector and try to buy from Tony and it will crash. But if I reload a save from right before I talk to Tony it seems to not crash. So I am not sure if anyone else has experienced this crash when initiating the buy window with Tony as it may be a problem on my end but I am not sure.

EDIT AGAIN: Now I know that it seems to be happening regardless of resolution but it won't happen all the time. I still can't reproduce this problem in the vanilla 1.13 (SVN 5721). Is it probable that I have an error with my system somewhere or that somehow the data files are corrupt or the cause of my problem? I would imagine no one else has this problem or else someone would have noticed.

With ASSASSINS_DISGUISED = TRUE you get some item error whenever an assassin shows up.


Without looking the code, this might happen if they try to wear clothes but fitting clothes items do not exist.


The fix for the cursor offset/empty speakers window bug was actually a civ group XML definition for the assassins group. This fix in v4.00 (general release) however does require a new game - Slax, your earlier post indicated seeing this bug in one of the Previews. Any interest in moving to v4.00/newer .exe?


Tony bug - I have not been able to replicate it in the supplied save games. Possibly I just haven't tried it enough times. Right now probably best to quick save before dealing with Tony.


Other Stuff - taking a few days off, will implement item fixes next week. Probably replace v4.00 with v4.00.1 when DL-1.13 v4.00 is released in the next month or two. UC-1.13 v4.00 work will proceed as best I can without a working Map Editor though I have another work around I'm holding off on as the proper solution would be to have the Map Editor limits increased for this and future mods.

PP-19 Bizon (PM) doesn't have slots for rod & spring.

Saiga 410K (>) can't be unfolded.

.410 Mag BS (10 rounds) has a description typo.
Same for the Stoner 63A Carbine, BR description at least.

Looking at BRs, MagPul PDR and PDR-C seem to be identical. Well, other than the range.

LE901 lower ejects a 7.62 NATO mag when combined.

PO 3.5 seems to cause a glitch where it can't be removed or right-clicked. Stats + Korsak slot still work. Currently happened on a Vityaz mod. stock.

I can't get manual Mobile Militia restrictions (the part where you can specify where mobile militia to go or not to go, the green, red, and yellow squares) to work using AFS. The color of the map sectors won't change. It works okay with default SVN 1.13 tho.

While taking a look at some of the issues found, and a fixed map editor, found that AFS v4.00 is running into an assertion error on hiring A.I.M. mercs with later .exe beyond that I've specified. I do not yet have time to check the change logs to see if this is simply a new feature that the mod has to account for. For now do not use builds newer than Rev 5869.
