Currently there are 12 different music files in the game, does anyone know if it's possible to add more than that, also is there a file size limit or can i make like a 30 minute mix?

Hi Sark, and welcome to the pit

AFAIK you can't add new music but you can replace the old ones. All the music files are in the "\data\music.slf" file. These slf files are like a folder for the game. So if you make a "\data\music" folder and put your own music files here game will read music from here instead of music.slf file. But there are some little problems.

1. Music files must be wav files. I'm not sure but later builds support ogg files.
2. Names of the new files must match the ones in music.slf, this means you if you put gangnamstyle.wav in your music folder then game will ignore it. But if you rename it to "BATTLE A.WAV" game will play it. Here is the list of files in music.slf,

If you want to check slf files yourself there is a little program for it here

3. There is no player functionality of the game. You can't choose the file you want to play, skip it, pause it, rewind it, etc. Also when you load a saved game the music changes.

To sum it up, if you don't have some kickass combat sound it's probably better to mute the music ingame and play your music form a media player.

Hi and thanks! Smile

Is there any coder out there who knows if it would be difficult to add this feature into the game or if it can be done by just editing some of the game files?

I have always just renamed the corresponding .wav file that I wanted to play in game to the names that are listed above.

At one point I had Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest playing as I took out the Queen's soldiers. Wink

Yeah, that's what I've been doing as well but it would be so cool to be able to add more tracks than 14.

Imagine having different types of music for different types of tilesets, different types of combat music depending on how many enemies are in a sector and making the music even more intense when your mercs are currently spotting 10+ enemies etc. etc. The possibilities would be endless! Smile

If someone could help me make this happen I promise to upload a kick ass soundtrack for the game, I'm currently listening through over 4000 movie scores just for this purpose Smile

Would be good to have a large library of ambient/animal sounds instead of music for different terrain maps . :thinkerg:
