Since Polish is my native language, and I often see outdated/missing/inaccurate Polish translations, I figured I could help a bit by helping translating missing bits and improving things Smile.

Here's the working Google Drive folder:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B6NEi4vM86_bcDV1ajFpUGE3Sk0&usp=sharing

I've started my work updating some files outside the source code itself - not much for now, but I hope I'll continue to do some more work slowly.

I've tried to update the files in all three locations - Data, Data-1.13 and Data-UB.

Files updated in this round (Polish_Version translations #1):
  • Polish.undergroundsectornames.lua - updated missing translations with sector names as seen in 1.05R Polish version (I was tempted to improve the original translations, but decided to keep the original one, at least for now)
  • Polish.EnemyNames.xml - can someone explain me where exactly these names are shown, however?
  • Polish.Vehicles.xml
I also noticed a few things:
  • vfs_config.UB.ini is a redundant file
  • SPLASH_POLISH.PNG is different one than the Polish version uses (I have 1.05R version which should be the latest, here's the SCI)
  • Polish.LoadScreenHints.xml files are outdated, compared to the latest gamedir.
Also, if there is any guideline or tips I should follow while doing the translation work, please point me to it Smile. I also noticed that there are lot of untranslated strings in the source code, so I'm planning to take on that as well.

P.S. I noticed that some XMLs with translation miss attributes that the original file have - I guess it's by the design, as they are redundant and not needed to keep. Can someone explain me how does that work? What info is redundant and can be excluded and wht not?
P.P.S. One more thing - Should I save all the files with the BOM on?

They are displayed (depending on a sector you fight in) instead of ranks if INDIVIDUAL_ENEMY_RANK = FALSE.

I'm not sure, but I think if they're supposed to be used as a full replacement of original files, then they should have all the same attributes. Better have some redundant than some missing.

BTW, do you plan to translate DG mercs quotes and bios?

Cool, maybe I'll finally be able to play correct version without immersion breaking language mix just like in good ol' 2000 Very Happy Maybe I'll even translate some quotes myself, it's a huge amount of work.

The foreign language XML files only have the index attribute and the text attributes. All the other attributes are taken at runtime from the english xml file. If you want to be sure that you are not missing xml tags in your polish xml files, you can take a look at the german xml files. They should be up to date with the xml structure.

https://ja2svn.no-ip.org/source/ja2/trunk/GameData/German_Version

EDIT: BTW, I just committed the "Polish_Version translations #1.7z"

I also updated all the LoadScreenHints.xml files with the latest content.

Please PM if, if you have any more translations in the future. That is easier for me that constantly checking this thread. Thanks.
