Hello Guys,
i just installed Ja2 Gold again and grabbed the latest (unstable) build. The game is starting at least! Smile

So, as i wanna fiddle around abit with the settings, i tried to start the XMLEditor. I followed some threads about interesting new "code-tests", especially the ones dealing with NCTH, so i thought, lets try it out and test some various settings.

So, problem is, whereas the Ini-editor is running smoothly, the xmleditor wont start up. I get the following msg:
10/2/2013 9:38:56 PM - Memory: 35,999,832 - Error:
			Source: System.Data
			Base Error Type: System.Data.ConstraintException
Message: Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.

File: Items\Merges.xml
ForeignKeyConstraint Constraint5 requires the child key values (12) to exist in the parent table.
10/2/2013 9:38:59 PM - Memory: 36,048,984 - A fatal error has occured. The application will now exit.

Anyone can help me with that?

Open Data-1.13\TableData\Lookup\MergeType.xml with a text editor and add

		12
		Tripwire Roll

Between the last block and the tag.

Nice, I'll bugger Flug the next time I see him to fix his feature then.

I already told him that his new feature broke the XML editor and he suspected the new merge type to be the reason but I didn't know that it is THAT easy to fix. Never been in that directory at all. Thank you. Smile

On rare occassions, the editor actually tells you what's wrong.

Well, so i finally started a game, made my IMP, assembled the team, still there is a reproducable problem :/ (Version 6462)
I dunno if i should post this somewhere else (bug section?), pls tell me if so Smile

The game wont make a save, but i got a quicksave, and every time i load it, the same error appears after some seconds. Maybe its another "quick fix" thing? So, the following error is displayed:

Assertion Failure [Line 4861 in file strategicmap.cpp].....
Dr. Q is not in a valid group (pSoldier -> ubGroupID is 0)

Thx in advance for any help!
Edit: Hm, seems i can prevent the game from crashing. I went to strategic view, assigned all 3 from Squad1 to Squad2. Now no crash. Strange...

One more thing,
is there actually an easy way to play 1.13 with new maps or do i need a new/additional mod for that?

The easiest way would be to use a map mod.

Maps can have all kinds of dependencies. Tilesets are one example. A map is useless without the correct tileset.

There are lots of things that need to be defined in the XMLs, for example:
  • Items
  • Civ Groups
  • Sector Names and properties
  • Patrol Paths, Garrison definitions
  • Militia Restrictions
  • Cities, Facilities, Movement Costs
If the map layout isn't changed some of the above can be ignored.

NPC data can differ. Mod_Settings.ini probably needs different entries and so on. There are lots of opportunities to make mistakes even if you know what you are doing.
