This is how the kickstarters, who opt for a DRM-free digital download from Humble Store, are treated.
1. DRM-free digital download only available 3 days after Steam release.

2. When it's available, a borked v1.0.2-11029 Windows package is provided.
Guess uploading an identical but DRM-free package is as *tough* as it gets.
(Did a MD5 checksum with Humble Store, mine's a verified download)

This is what's shown when starting a new game.
(The consolation here is mine will eventually use a 100AP system and how good a stat is shown by the number of Xs... if it runs.)

Before you asked, nope, 'create default merc' fails spectacularly to start game as well. The no-idea-what's-going-on tutorial can be played and cleared of all enemies.

Maybe it's a very belated April Fool's joke or the dark humor present in the game.

*In future, this thread probably will morph into something else.
