Outdated? No, i don't think so.
Problem is Headrock (who did NCTH) went awol, and thus don't work on it anymore. But it's working. There are some issues and balance problems with it, but it's being refined over time.

For example, Silversurfer has added some parameters to improve iron sight (among other things), see here, and Strohman did a parameters overhaul on this very thread (SDO).

I tried to do a SVN uppdate but don't know if I got the right EXE.
I got confused by:

at last you need a fitting exe from *here*. It should not be lower than the revision specified in the svn log (NOT the revision of the main trunk/all branches!) you can read after downloading from branches/Strohmann

The show log button showed: Revision:7608 Author:Strohman Date:24 oktober Message: Unstable_Revision_7572_on_GameDir_2172

So I should use 7572 EXE correct?

Depends on you just wanting to decrease the unmodified day and night sightrange or all sightranges. In the first case you have to compensate by increasing the additional sightrange bonuses granted by scopes, binoculars and the like to get back to the prenerf-values. Also if you lower all sightranges you have to decrease SCOPE_RANGE_MULTIPLIER in CTHConstants.ini a bit or scopes get worse relative to prenerf values.

The show log button showed: [color:#009900]Revision:7608 Author:Strohman Date:24 oktober Message: [color:#FF0000]Unstable_Revision_7572_on_GameDir_2172

If you open the url you used for svn updating you see the [color:#009900]revision of the main trunk/all branches at the top; that is the same revision shown in the svn log to the left. It increases everytime someone commits something, not just me. What you need however is specified in the message to the right ([color:#FF0000]red). So yes, a 7572 exe is correct.

A few questions regarding recent changes to merc evolution settings:

it seems that now every merc with deputy/squadleader trait except Raider has their experience growth rate slowed down in some way.
Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of having a deputy around in the first place?

Conrad is basically an overpriced version of Ice but now he has a 75% growth penalty? I mean, I understand that his price is fixed, but it still seems a bit harsh.

Also why give Stella a 50% growth penalty? She's already pretty useless with 24 AGI yet costs almost the same as Danny.

Hi, I'm not sure if I posted this on the right thread, but I have a problem on the XML Editor. When I load the XML Editor, I get this error:

What I've done:

 1. Installed Jagged Alliance 2
 2. Installed the SCI SDO Required CoreMod files Stable reversion 7435
 3. Installed the 7609 stable reversion bugfix
 4. Installed the AR1.4+SDO Stable reversion 7435 files
 5. Edited the XMLEditorInit and changed "<Data_Directory_1>Data-1.13</Data_Directory_1>" to "<Data_Directory_1>Data-SDO</Data_Directory_1>"
I'm not sure what wrong I've done.

A few questions.

1. If I understand it correctly, with the SVN method I can use this awsome mod with the latest SCI?

2. I have some problems with my SVN downlad. When I specify URL of repository with: https ://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2_v1.13_data/GameDir/ I get Checkout Failed! and a error message:

Can't move 'C:\Users\Svante\Desktop\Pille\.svn\tmp\svn-3A269A13' to
'C:\Users\Svante\Desktop\Pille\.svn\pristine\8b\8badc15a4baf0323de9375aa4826d429a933e7d8.svn-base':
Can't find file
Additional errors:
Can't create directory 'C:\Users\Svante\Desktop\Pille\.svn\pristine\8b': Can't create a file that allready exists.

3. I am however successful when I specify URL of repository with: https ://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/branches/Strohmann/Unstable_Revisions/

4. It seems to me that I now have a folder with newest version of SDO at revision 7832. The newest SCI I can find is 7816. Can I skip the first SVN download and simply update the game "manually" to SCI 7816, copy the files from my SDO folder to gamedirectory and be good to go? Do I need the 7832 exe for SCI?

Thx!

SDO xmls lack the last ammo modification used in newer revisions, add

<dDamageModifierLife>1.0</dDamageModifierLife>
<dDamageModifierBreath>1.0</dDamageModifierBreath>

to every type of ammo (don't think that SDO has rubber ammo that uses different settings) in AmmoTypes.xml and things should work normally, or at least somewhat better big grin

Could someone help me out. Im trying to run Arulco Folding Stock with Wildfire maps. Thanks to SDO it seems I can actually load the maps, but they have messed up tileset. I have renamed Ja2Set.dat.xml.Overhaul to Ja2Set.dat.xml, so maps arent totally messed up, but some parts are replaced by a tile of a blue car with barrels on the back.

Any idea how to get it all running correctly?

EDIT: Ok, I mixed and matched some mods and got AFS working on WF maps without too many NADA's or mismatched items. I basically dropped WF 6.07 into AFS, took maps and Ja2Set.dat.xml from SDO+WF default maps.

Scaling maps throw a lot of NADA's as well as mismatched items (sniper rifle instead of a rock for example).

Still for now it works pretty OK for me to roll with it.

Hello. I hope this thread has still some life in it.

Awesome mod. Especially combined with AR. I played AR years ago and enjoyed it a lot.

I am having an annoying problem(link 1) while playing, though. If you notice the graphic gets cut on my currently equipped gun slot. As you can see my campaign is very young and I don't have many guns, but I've noticed that this does not to Ira's revolver. I also recently found another(link 2) inventory-related glitchy thing.

Now I my modding experience is very limited, but is it possible that the new item sizes is the culprit here? Is there any fix to this? I know it's not game-breaking but this really rustles my jimmies.

Another minor thing to report: I made an AIM sniper character. She ended up with Mini-14 accompanied by a No.32 4x scope that cannot fit into her gun. Is this intended?

i.imgur DOT COM /8dzKJLX.png Link 1
i.imgur DOT COM /g8hUYR3.png Link 2

Whoops, it seems that I can't use links because I have a new account.

Update #1: It seems that the resolution I'm using is causing this. Vanilla 1.13 didn't have this. The resolution which I had my problem was 1280x800. Currently I'm using 1280x768 and I have no graphical problems so far.

I encountered some other bugs, though. When bringing Maria to Angel after Angel thanks you and gives you his deed my cursor would permanently be a clock and I wouldn't be able to do anything except exit the game. The temporary solution I found was that letting everyone in my team stand outside Angel's shop and let Maria go in by herself.

Now I thought it was over but after defeating the third boxer and Kingpin telling me that he's impressed the same thing would happen. Permanent clock cursor and I had to exit my game.

Update #2: I found the problem. It seems that that glitch happens when the NPC gets stuck via my guys blocking the doorway. The Kingpin problem was not caused by my team, but by a Kingpin crew blocking his own boss.

Problems with blocked ways are a long time problem. Some maps allow you to open additional doors to enable alternative ways for the NPC. That's what I usually do because we can't always be sure if an NPC has keys.

That's very informative, thank you.

On other news I found a game-crashing bug. I only noticed this recently but it seems I can adjust a 7x battle scope to make it 5x. Tried doing it and it just freezes the game. Had to kill the process. I've tried it 3 times, happened all 3 times.

Update: Found a similar bug. This time I crashed when I tried setting up a "grippod".

Hey, sorry to be a bother, but I've come up against an issue I don't quite know is an issue. I've got the game installed (using the "SVN Method" detailed in the OP), and so far everything seems to be working fine, but weapons all do a tiny amount of damage (like 2-4 on a headshot with a .45). Is this WAD, or did I do something wrong?

The Ellipsis is a punctuation mark used to indicate "the ommission of words not needed to complete the construction or sense". Recently, it has also been used more casually to indicate a significant pause or trailing-off at the end of a sentence. As a result of this overuse and misuse, these gentle and ancient punctuations are slowly dying off; please help to preserve them for future generations.

Got fed up with win 8.1 problems and installed Win XP in dualboot to play this lol.
Running 8218 with AR1.4+SDO
Updated Ammo XML with new parameters.
The only modification I´ve made was I changed TT3day and Blackhawk Patrol pack to be Combat packs, changed their pockets and such.
Also added the new AI behaviour settings to the options.ini, AI_EXTRA_FLANKING etc.

Still getting crashes/errors from time to time, trying to make this thing stable as I enjoy Iron Man :-/

Got this error while aiming at some random enemy.

File: vsurface.cpp
Line: 1050
Function: CreateVideoSurface
Could not create video surface from file: INTERFACE/TactPopupBackground.pcx

Got crash once while aiming at enemy jeep too, blown up a bunch of em without issues so I cannot exactly reproduce it.

SDO is no longer developed so its data is considered outdated for new unstable releases. Probably you won't have these problems with rev7654 on GameDir rev2184 which last release of SDO made for.

I did play AR1.4 with your stable version 2014 and CVBs patch on 1.13 (7609,stable). I did understand how to instal that and it was a lot of fun, so thank you!
I mentioned this in a question related to another topic and got the hint to try AR1.4 with SDO.

Do I understand it right that i won't be able to use SDO with 7609? But then, why are there versions for stable 2014 (which file under unstable revisions?), which i thought is 7609, that are neither 7435 nor 7609? Which one is the "required core mod"? SDO or 1.13?

It seems interesting to give AR another try with SDO, but i need more advice. I just want to use the combination of AR+SDO providing the most features and running on the newest possible version of 1.13 (7435,7609,7676,...), but i can't find out which of the offered downloads this may be.

So, really, I'm sorry to bother you with these probably noob-like questions, but any advice would be welcome.

All SDO files needed for 7435/7609 version and AR/WF, you can probably put CVB's fixes into Data-AR folder as with "normal" version.
