I wanted to play AFS on WF maps( I just love their design). However I run into some pretty serious problem with items. there is quite a lote of NADA's and items out of place (revolver grenade launcher in Omerta, in a dresser anyone?).

Would it be possible to have some kind, any kind of patch, converter, anything that would fix the items?

You shouldn't be having these issues if you're using the 6.07 version of the WF maps Silversurfer maintains, since I think that was purged of items beyond vanilla JA2 and UB. It even has a comparability patch for AFS (and Strohmann's overhaul). Parkan also made a version (possibly the same one, the commits are hard to follow) with all the conflicting items cleaned out of the maps.

If you want a more thorough solution, wait for the random items scheme to get finalized and posted somewhere obvious, and you'll see people start making fully portable versions of the Vanilla, WF, and other maps. I think Strohmann already did that for the Arulco Revisited maps and his random item system.

Edit: I tracked down the various pages you'd want to look through on the subject. This thread discusses the current 6.07 WF maps and how to get them, while this post mentions an attempt to clean up the basic WF maps. The latter links to a site in Russian, though, so I can't tell you whether it works or not. The first thread also mentions how random items would solve this problem in more detail than I bothered to. Hope it helps!

AFS with WF Maps will play more nicely without NADA items only in my WF maps(it is original WilDfire maps from 6.04 WF).They have only vanilla items and nothing more. One bad thing i cannot change on them-The creatures in Sci-FI mode in Undergound are absent.Otherwise those maps plays nicely.
The other WF maps packs will have a huge number of NADA and wrong items on them, because they have 1.13 mod items.

Have you tried to turn on the option in Ja2_Options.INI:
; Determines whether crepitus / creatures show up in SCI-FI MODE only (they can never show up in realistic mode)
ENABLE_CREPITUS = TRUE

Maybe if you combine underground maps with old versions of WF?
Of with silversurfer WF 6.07?

After a quick check I can at least say that there are lots of bug spawn points in the Drassen mine in my WF6.07 maps.

I'm fixing WF maps (6.07 version) for my own playthrough right now. I'm fixing bad items (lots of them) and replacing them with AFS ones as I play. It will take some time to finish this though. In the end, if it's in presentable state, I'll upload them for public.

Because of the forum migration your links have died. Too bad, currently I am trying to make AFS work with wildfire maps.

Link to the WF 6.07 thread is here.
If you want to use the maps with AFS you need to rename "Ja2Set.dat.xml.AFS" to "Ja2Set.dat.xml" just like the readme says.

It seems that it works, but instead of trees I get white umbrellas. Very weird. Maybe I f'ed up the install process, don't have experience with SVN so I just downloaded the folders and files of the WF 6.07 folder using HTTrack website copier and pasted it in Data folder.

Guess I'm going to try to figure out that SVN thing now aww

Data folder is probably the worst place to put them because that is for vanilla Ja2 and will be overwritten by information from Data-1.13 and mod folders in the order that is present in the vfs_config file.

Im kinda confused here, trying to get AFS with WF maps to work as well. AFS 4.50 with newest WF607 from svn.
No luck, only got the 1.13 with wf maps. Should I be seeing AFS aim starting gear as well, or what?
Also the ini editor doesnt find any executable, so i cant start with it.
Tried with SCI_Unstable_Revision_7740_on_GameDir_2207 and SCI_Unstable_Revision_7679_on_GameDir_2188 as well.

Hey, sorry for necro-ing the thread, but I'm having the same issue as SamBlack. I'm kind of hoping that since no one's said anything since February his issue's been resolved. Just in case it hasn't, I'll post what I did, and maybe someone can point out my mistake.

1:Download WF Maps 6.07 from SVN (Used TortoiseSVN), as well as most recent AFS (4.50) and patch (4.51), along with appropriate Unstable SCIs for each (7679 for AFS 4.50, 7816 for 4.51, and the most recent exe for WF 6.07 as indicated in the thread where SilverSurfer indicated to do so, on April 24th. I would link it, but I can't.)

2:Install SCI 7679, then AFS 4.50

3:Install SCI 7816, then AFS patch 4.51

4:Copy contents of Wildfire Maps folder, with the exception of the folder "Data - Wildfire Maps 6.06", into JA2 install folder and replace Ja2Set.dat.xml with Ja2Set.dat.xml.AFS by deleting the former and giving the latter its name

5:Copy latest exe into install folder (7883, as of this post)

6:Launch with exe 7883

As I said, I have the same problem as SamBlack, in that the game has Wildfire maps, but not AFS items. I also tried launching without the exe I downloaded, but there was no difference.

The Ellipsis is a punctuation mark used to indicate "the ommission of words not needed to complete the construction or sense". Recently, it has also been used more casually to indicate a significant pause or trailing-off at the end of a sentence. As a result of this overuse and misuse, these gentle and ancient punctuations are slowly dying off; please help to preserve them for future generations.

Spare the Ellipsis. Use a Period.
