Hello, Bear Pit community happy

Since its been a while since I installed a JA 1.13 update, I notice a few changes which aren't very clear. I hope you can help me.

Right at the start I notice the Extra difficulty options Soft Ironman and Extreme Ironman. Maybe they were there before, but its the first time I notice them. Can someone please explain what they do?

Also, what is the Improved Interrupt System? And is the Improved Chance to Hit System updated, or is it still the old version that was made initially, but not finished?

That is all I need to know for now to be able to start a new game happy

Thank you,
Dreamer

AFAIK the iron man modes only differ in the possibilities where the player can save the game. All three modes have in common that you can't save during turn based combat.

"Extreme" means that you can only save at a certain time of day. Check "EXTREME_IRON_MAN_SAVING_TIME_NOTIFICATION" and "EXTREME_IRON_MAN_SAVING_HOUR" in Ja2_Options.ini.

Standard "Iron Man" mode means that you can't save the game as long as there are enemies in the current sector no matter if realtime or turnbased combat mode is active.

"Soft" means you can save at any time even if there are enemies in the current sector as long as there is no turn based combat going on.

New Interrupt System is in this thread -> http://thepit.ja-galaxy-forum.com/index.php?t=msg&th=18946&goto=290787&#msg_290787

NCTH system has been updated many times. You have to try it yourself in order to see if you like it. I only play with NCTH and for me it has improved combat very much.

One caveat regarding the NCTH: If you are the savescumming type, NCTH will cause you to quickload a lot more because bottomline you will miss way more shots than with OCTH.

Thank you for the replies so far happy . Soft Iron Man sounds like a good option for me, to avoid savescumming big grin .

I like the ideas Headrock used when he made the NCTH. But I remember he stopped working on it, and it still had a lot of bugs at the time, and that's why I asked if it was updated. I guess someone else continued where he left off?

I wouldn't say "continued where he left off". I just fixed a few bugs here and there and implemented a few new options and tweaks. Also lasers do not work anymore like they used to in the original release. It just didn't make much sense looking through a scope for example and the laser provided the magnification factor. Lasers give a bonus to CTH now if used within laser range (which can vary depending on brightness at the target btw.). There is also a new "scope effectiveness" which makes someones stats and traits influence his ability to use scopes effectively.
Take a look into CTHConstants.ini. There's lots of options there to customize NCTH.
