I always asked myself which of the items in 1.13 are completely useless in terms of gameplay?
Items that only work when trading with Skipper count for me as useless as well.

I don't remember what is available on-map in stock v1.13 . . . but I don't think anything from stock v1.13 (i.e. vanilla maps) is useless. However, modders can put otherwise useless items in from the v1.13 Items.xml. I, for example, have put Passports in for role-playing depth and local color. The Passports are from Urban Chaos, I believe, and have a use there (I think). In Arulco Vacations they are simply available for sale on the black market (ALT-LMB in inventory) and can be sold to Frank in San Mona.

Rubber band (item 323) is useless in stock 1.13, AFAIR

I thought the rubber band was used to put two grenades together, but I guess I was wrong (never tried):

Check out this page, it lists a few items of questionable utility:

http://jaggedalliance.wikia.com/wiki/Golf_Clubs

But I think only the Rubber Band, Golf Clubs and Cigars are 'useless'.

Not even Jake will buy rubber bands, while golf clubs, cigars (and TV sets and platinum watches) can at least be sold at various dealers.
Not sure if that fits ATigersClaw's definition of useless. Then there would be silver platters as well.

Some others that are in the item repository, but not necessarily placed in maps or inventories: MERC wristwatch, umbrella, various Japanese western videos (which had a use in JA2UB, but not in 1.13), laptop & transmitter...

Ed,
The rubber band is used as part of a booby trap and the cigars are used to make camouflage paint. The golf clubs are of no use though. In JA1 there was many uses for unusual items and the same in JA2. There is a chart somewhere on the site that gives you all the combinations of items.

I knew I saw a page of mergeable items somewhere . . . can't find the list at that site, but can find the index to the page of mergeable items: http://jaggedalliance.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Mergeable_Items

I think the combinations you describe only apply to AIMNAS and not to the vanilla 1.13.

So, what about the porn magazines ingame? Do they boost the morale of the mercs?

The rubber band was a JA1 & JA2 item. I cannot remember if the golf clubs were in in the retail JA2. The cigars are definitely AMNAS. The porn magazine is JA2 113 and does nothing.

Rubber bands, golf clubs, cigars, porn mags, silver platters, TV sets, platinum watches were all in JA2 retail and inherited by 1.13.

Except for rubber bands, they could be sold to various merchants (and thrown at enemies for a whopping single point of damage), but had no real in-game function. IIRC, watches brought ~500$ at Franz's shop.

Rubber bands could not even be sold, and were thus completely useless.

That was Skipper at the junkyard and you could give him any item at all and he gave you a keycard for the lab.
