The documentation that came with it says to activate vs-config.AR.ini, which I've done. However, it also says to set "data-AR/ja2_options.ini", which isnt available in the drop down menu.

I *did* change my starting cash in the "normal" 1.13 (7609) ini, which took. Can I assume the documentation is out of date and everything is in order?

Hi Gimme,

I don't have AR installed, but UB comes with JA2 1.13 by default, so I figured I'd check my structure / might be helpful to you, might not.

Here's what I did:
Step 1: go to JA2 directory (i.e. C:/Games/JA2/) or wherever you have it.
Step 2: Press CTRL+F to open the search function and look for ja2.ini
Step 3: Scroll through the long list of results and find there is only one named like that, but that there's many "JA2_options.ini" files, which also show up.
I had
One in Data, one in Data-1.13, one in Data-UB\AddOns\Data-UB-Vanilla and one in Data-UB\AddOns\Data-UB-1.13...

So yeah, I'd try that search function to see if you have one in any of the folders associated with AR. - That way you'd at least know the file exists.

If it does, and you have vs-config.AR.ini in your JA2 directory (and the ini selector let you select that no problem) then maybe edit JA2.ini manually (using notepad that comes with windows, or downloading Notepad++ if you like useful colors) to use the proper ini file. This is rather important, because the AR mod changes things in the ini file, I believe, so otherwise balance things might be out of whack.

EDIT: Look what I found! And this -- Apparently other people have been setting these by hand, too. - However these are old posts, not sure if you should still have to do that. -- Keep in mind many people reading these posts haven't played AR (yet) or not in a long time, so perhaps including more context would be good. Also probably could have posted this as part of the main thread for the mod. That way people subscribed to the post (if that's a thing in this forum, I think it is) would be more likely to see it and those would be the ones that would know.

Good luck, if there's still trouble let us know! happy

Julian

Thanks! Seems this step (which I got from a pdf in the docs folder) is obsolete though, the file in question does not exist, and there are no other inis in the AR folders.

Unless starting cash on expert in AR is 75k by default (so my ja2 main folder ini edit from 50 to 75k did nothing) it seems this works. I've been playing the starting sector and the rebel one, and now I'm about to do the new, 3rd omerta sector. I'm assuming it uses the regular ini until I find some setting I know should be different!
