Figure you can manage somewhat if your gun's got rails but otherwise it might be tricky. Takes time, needs to be calibrated... all that.
Just another tag for weapons which can screw with your scavenging plans. cheeky

Gonna have to be in a friendly sector if you wanna do a swap.

Don't really see the point tbh, how often do people swap sights in combat?

I don't see the point either. Guns without rails often only accept one type of scope anyway. With rails it's no problem to switch scopes if you really want to do that, it just takes time. Personally I just use the different sights that I attached to a gun during combat break. So far I never had the need to switch scopes during combat.

Only case where I see this would make any sense is with sniper rifles. First couple shots in a big map for example, a 10x scope is quite useful, but as soon as the zerg rush starts, your 10x scope won't do any good... however, this is where item transformations kick in and you just adjust scope magnification to a lower level... thus I don't see too much use for this either.

I actualy switch scopes + un/fold stock for better performances/APs... But then again I use spy twin sisters where one is seducing soldier while other one blows....

...his head off from behind.

If it can be included as toggleable option then I don't see any harm in it. If you like it turn it on, if you don't turn it off and you'll never know it exists.
Maybe in the future it can be helpful to some sci-fi mod and some highly modular weapons.

More versatility for future mapper/modders. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Playing scavenging style is pretty fun. Added challenge.

To those questioning how plausible it is, not only is this possible in real combat, but the Russian scope mount (used on AKM, AK-74 and Dragunov among others) is actually designed for this. It's meant to be quickly detachable for close-quarters and reattached without loss of zero. Indeed the Dragunov sacrifices a some long range ability so it can be used indoors with the scope deatched. NATO picatiny rails don't allow it as a standard, but QD rings are easily obtained, popular among civilian shooters and ought to be included with some of the prices Bobby Ray charges for scopes.

At worst it would take quite a lot AP, but it's more than possible.
